I think they had alot riding on this , and the criticism on the last movie maybe influenced a change of direction? Probably half the people that complained about king of the monsters haven’t actually watch a full toho movie 😁 the human elements always sucked ass and they were far from masterpieces.
But they made the cast even more cringe, quippy, and central to the plot whereas KOTM was like 3 dad jokes and some family drama this one was straight up ROBO GODZILLA! HANG ON GUYS IM HACKING IN. DO SOMETHING AAA I SPILLED A DRINK ON THE GIANT ROBOT

Edwards set this monsterverse up perfectly, they had it handed to them on a platter , kotm was good and even skull island was good . This one was good aswell but it felt like a step backwards in my view at least . Not ten steps back but definitely a step behind the last movie
Did they change skasgards character? In the trailers he was a serious guy, in the movie he was a dipshit 😁 could have just been the perception of the trailer though I guess

Godzilla 1 & 2 were disaster movies in tone. GvK was ???
Transformers in tone I really dont know how else to describe it other than GRANDMA DRINK YOUR PRUNE JUICE thats what every human interaction in the movie felt like.

Lol people will defend this movie because “durr i just want to see monsters fight” for 15 minutes of a two hour movie.
You might as well just splice the fight scenes together then and skip the rest because nothing makes sense or is remotely engaging to watch.
KOTM you miss ghidorah on ice, apocalypse stuff, the purpose of the ORCA devices, rodan and mothra
Skipping through gvk you’ll miss the deaf girl? Magic blue energy is irrelevant and scanned like magic and they just teleport out so it doesnt even matter they went there lol

I was never into those movies, whenever I bit the bullet and watched the second and third , some bits were good to look at but not much else . The plotholes were insane 😄
