Predator: Badlands
I know, but basically for a movie to not “bomb” at the box office it needs to make twice its budget. So, 130 million. And that’s without any budget on promotion. I don’t think it would have made that. Maybe it would have, but we will never know. Regardless, it would have been a high gamble. Maybe if the budget was 65 million WITH promotion included, then yeah, it would have definitely be a hit. But we will never know. I still think that budget estimate is inflated. It simply doesn’t make sense to me it cost that much when other similar films cost around the same with much better promotion.
It’s technically low budget though. Looking at recent films like the Marvel films, where its around the 100s of millions, and even The Predator was $88 million. It did remarkably well despite all of this. Predators was $40 mil, but it never did well critically like Prey, never had that kind of love.
Also Fox had very little belief in that Prey would deliver so it makes sense why they never pushed on promoting it as much. Also, practical effects can be quite expensive which is why studios cheapen out and go for 3D most of the time.
Regardless of all those small details, the film was a success and there are now two films in the works with a new project coming in. As a Predator fan, I’m all good here.
There’s only so many films the general public is willing to go see in theaters.
The average person has several reasons NOT to go to the theaters today vs the 80s/90s even early 2ks
I enjoyed furiosa but I also understand the hate.
-The film market is over saturated today.
-Covid
-Woke agendas
-Too many actors/bad acting/no name actors
-Inflation
-The list goes on…
There’s getting to be more reason to stream/stay home…pirate
Vs
Spend 30 to 100 bucks at the movies unless u sneak liquor shots and snacks in like me 🎊
Hreat minds think alike lol i do the same thing take my own snacks and flask
There is another Predator movie that releases before Badlands
It will be on streaming
I think it may be an anime series
They are missing an opportunity to get stars from the Terminator series like Salvation (Bale/and whats his face) back to cross over with Predator. It would be a phenominal effort and an interesting cross over if they do it. But nobody is thinking about that sadly. Even though Arnold is in both and literally made both franchises exist.
Sadly people think small.
I still and probably will never catch the new terminator anime…simply because i think they want to win over the One-peice/ or Castlevania fans moreso than those who are ages 30 and over.
I won’t watch it because it’s on netflix
Totally
I go to the theater for select movies, and I used to work for a theater chain and still have free tickets. Still spend like $70 on food/drinks even when I save around $40 on tickets
#me2 but not since highschool
I started a script based on the alien vs terminator vs predator comics… it sounds ridiculous but given the ai revolt in the alien timeline it seems plausible…
The android named Call in Alien Resurrection speaks on it briefly.,
Sam Worthington was the human cyborg in Salvation btw.
Seed as your reward!
I mean, I worked for the corporation, not a local theater. That’s how I got free tickets. I have the barcode generator for rainchecks hahahaha
