Predator is designed to fail???

even in camoflauge the glowing eyes give you away… camoflauge seems to disarm itself at random even with energy still left in the energy bar… multiple areas have water and effect camoflauge… fireteam has 4 players against one… you could kill 3 of them but if just one makes it to call reinforcements they all have the potential to come back (fireteam is given 2 lives/chances) so then you have to kill them twice while still on your original health bar… hopefully you havent used up the med kit… and if the AI decides to join in and shoot at you too with the fireteam as usual… youre outmatched again… Predator’s laser gives his position away… fireteam also gets points for Predator damage… the view in infrared is so poor your footing tends to get stuck on the smallest objects in your path… trying to jump close to enemies for a kill will not work if your close to trees because youll just end up in the tree instead… the network has already kicked me off 3 times when i was about to eliminate the entire fireteam all 3 times… so far Predator is designed to fail in both gaming and game design… change my mind… i am level 91 BTW and i feel like i ahould be way over 100 by now… PS4

seriously??? your replies are hilarious yet nobody gets to the point of what im saying… Have Dora explain it??? ok… why should a game need explanation and why cant you do it yourself??? hahaha… regardless of my opinion the game is infested with bugs and thats a FACT that remians in sync with my opinions on this game so far

…you’re right about the bugs…when bugs happen and thats only sometime…Dora says 1/40 matches… Now she said too much. And nobody cares about you. and nobody will.

And when bug happens…please use the bug report…and please specify what platform…because nobody gives a fuck about you…Dora doesn’t care.

But i do:

So take some time to write up a decent post…with details of where, when, what happened, and what platform. And MAYBE ILL GIVE A FUCK!

BUT you coming in the forums and writing up some shit storm of a peice of hot dookie and thinking any primate will give fuck…well you got another thing coming!

Thats me pointing the fucking finger at you for your negligence!!
Or maybe Dora will come back and give a nice “i’m special” cake just for you!

im not lookin for sympathy or anybodys fucks hahaha… im just letting iLLfonic know… who else am i supposed to vent to about a game that they made… if they had a contact page for this game i wouldnt even be using this forum… i try to avoid people as much as possible for this very reason… evrybody seems to be either an asshole or a dumbfuck and ive spent enough time dealing with both… especially when it come to petty shit… like i said… if i couldve just contacted them about these issues easily and directly i would have… this forum was the easiest i could find regarding issues with this game

I’m going to have to Break your Heart here. Because guess what: Little Dora of Illfonic’s Support team DOES NOT EXIST!
YOu’re going to have to deal with Joe Primate, Joe Crazy and Jane Fuckup! and they don’t give a fuck about you unless you make it clear and concise!

And you better play nice balls! Or you have me to contend with…and sometimes I’m nice!
But today i’m just not feelin it! I feel like I need to bite a rock hard jerky!

Lol wtf is going on here

@2RiLL It seems as if you still have much to learn about playing as the Predator, all you need at the moment is patience, the ability to learn from your mistakes and practice different tactics depending on what kind of Fireteam setup you’re facing.

As for your first statement, glowing eyes that gives away your location, try changing vision mode before you enter high ground or face away from the Fireteam when switching modes.
Second, i’ve never seen the cloak being disabled randomly ever, only when melee attacking, eating boars, energy runs out, stepping in water causes sparks = (Haven’t you seen the movie?)
Third, the Predator is much stronger, you can handle 4 Fireteam members if you play right, don’t expect to play like a professional Predator if you recently started this game. Them being able to get reinforcements is nothing compared to you having unlimited boars to eat, as long as you stay near the Fireteam, you also have second wind.
Fourth, about the AI, did you know that you can trigger the alarms which makes more AI’s come? Then you can lead them towards the Fireteam and go cloak mode and the AI will start going for the Fireteam instead, and you can just join in from another side, flanking them.
Fifth, there is a perk called Dithered Lenses which makes your laser much less visible, besides that you can actually charge your shoulder cannon while standing behind a tree, rock, cliff’s edge etc and then move in line of sight to let it fire the plasma bolt off, that way you wont have to show your lasers more than a second. I highly recommend anyone using the shoulder cannon to practice doing this, experimenting how long time it takes to charge it before it unleashes etc, so you can learn to time it.
Sixth, getting the “Signed Out” disconnect is a real pain in the butt and is nothing i can help with, it’s Illfonic’s employees who has to fix that, i think most of us have felt the power of the “Signed Out”.

Just keep practicing, if you die by the Predator, try think what you could have done to prevent it, maybe you should have made sure to have an obstacle nearby from which you could have prevented getting netted if you stood behind it, etc.
If you play as the Predator, before you engage the Fireteam, make sure you know where all the 4 players are, if there are 2 players up on a mountain with sniper rifles watching over the other 2 who are completing the objectives, maybe it’s not so wise to leap in and start meleeing the ones doing the objectives, this is just an example. Situational awareness is important when playing as the Predator.
My hottest tip is to try learn from your mistakes, some people has that ability, others don’t.

Dexter Don’t Bite !!!

It does feel like that the way the game is designed is to counter everything and anything the predator does. It makes you feel like your pushed into a corner with limited options. The match is not in the Predator’s hands. The match is controlled by the fireteam. They dictate the outcome. And that sucks.

Bad fireteam? Predator wins. Good fireteam? They win. Very rarely is there an in-between.

No matter what Predator does, fireteam can counter it twice as hard.

As a predator you have to heavily rely on the fireteam making mistakes and using shitty loadouts. If you’re up against a fireteam that uses good loadouts and doesn’t make silly mistakes like running off on their own then well… you’re fucked.

They also have nearly every advantage. More players on their side, more powerful weapons, borderline unlimited gear, a second life with all of their gear back, mud which renders thermal and target isolation useless, spot which renders cloak useless (thank God spotting isn’t as bad as it once was) and I’m willing to bet there’s more I’ve forgotten.

Predator is designed to fail, yes. But that’s only because FT are designed to succeed a majority of the time because of the countless advantages they have.

Welcome, to fireteam hunting grounds.

This guy gets it

I played a very small number of Predator games early on, and probably lost over half of them.

Fast Forward to being 150 for weeks now, and playing almost entirely FT during this time.

I’ve jumped back into playing Pred more, and haven’t lost a game (~20 matches so far*). Despite having very little experience playing as a Predator.
*I still doubt I would stand a chance against a coordinated top-tier PC squad though. (yet to encounter one I think).

You need to know how the other side plays, and how they think. Before you can overcome your opponent, you need to understand your opponent.
There are certainly a lot of players complaining about Predator being weak, when I can’t help but feel that have barely played Fire Team to understand what works and what doesn’t.

Or are players complaining about losing at all? As I mentioned, I think I would lose against a top-tier PC squad, no doubt. But I’ve had ~20 games recently, and really had no issues except for 1 game with 3 PC players that made it hard. Even if I lost every game against a 4 man PC squad on comms, I would still be winning well over 50% of my games, which is fine. Do we really need to win every game we play? We can’t all be the best, all the time?

The game should be about having fun first and formost, I think it falls a little short of that imo, but each patch is doing good work at making it fun. I don’t think it should ever go down the esports route cause it will take away the fun.

The plasma cannon sucks ass, I’m using a perk to increase ranged weapons damage and I still can’t down one person with it. There are scenarios where I shot like 3 fully charged shots at one fireteam member and they still are walking around like nothing happened. Then there are times where I shot a fully charged shot at a fireteam member and it didn’t register the hit. Please buff the plasma cannon slightly.

Then you didn’t hit them as well as you think you did.

A charged plasma cannon does 120 damage.
I think that’s perfectly fine.
A regular shot does 42.
A charged + regular shot will down any FT besides a Support. (or an assault with the right perks)
