Predator Skill ceiling

So I’m sure plenty of people will be upset at the thought of what I’m about to explain but hear me out. Your ability to win as the predator relies on your skill personally to a point. But, once the entire FT is on coms together and all top level players, your skill is more or less out of the equation. You are no longer going to win off how good you are it’s all in reliance of how well they play or if they make a glaring mistake. And before you say, “I get every FT member every time try my build here” then list what you do so we can all bask in your glory, think about it for a moment. Every single thing, item weapon, whatever it may be, has not just passive counters but HARD counters as the predator. Smart disc, huge audio cue to move, Net can be cut by other members instantly, all melee can be parried, and it seems to be the only item without a real straight forward counter would be the Bow, which as dumb as this sounds is countered by taking cover with allies and healing. And the plasma caster has the small counter of being able to see the laser obviously. Now am I saying I want anything vastly changed or varied from how it is now. Not really. I’m just saying I think it’s about time we all realize this game much like some other Asymmetrical 1v4 titles, where your skill will only take you so far, you are basically counting on mistakes. Luckily mistakes are easy enough to make as FT members, but it’s those rare occasions where the team never separates, using pathing which requires you to expose yourself to engage, is all in coms, and brings the proper load out, that this becomes extremely apparent.

Yeah, you get ppl who work together and you maybe got a 10% in some cases 5% chance to kill them all. To me ft is too strong.

Well I think the idea of them needing to mess up is fairly important, because otherwise if you were strong enough to just kill them mistake or not you would be unstoppable by Definition. My only thing is at the moment I don’t understand why everything to predator has is so easy to counter. Why is the smart disc so loud why do the motion sensors let the ft know they are down? Like is the point of that info not for me to know where you are, doesn’t really help if you know that I know. I’d just like to see some of the hard counters to simple tools for the predator be removed. Because a good ft is going to make it plenty challenging without these extra edges

Well I disagree. I dont think it should require them to make a mistake for you to be able to kill them. I would agree with that if we had more traps or gadgets to trip up the fireteam.

I love the net and bear trap. I would also love a rope like weapon to drag/pull downed ft members up into the trees. Idk stuff like that.

Or make the mission require more than just a quick hold of a button or key to complete an objective. Some people said puzzles.

Idk it’s way too easy for the ft to do whatever they need/ want to right now.

As for me if I could get 1 change. It would be an increase in full charge plasma cannon damage.

I feel like fully charge it should do more. Right now I swear it just feels like it only tickles the ft.

Yeah. A lot of steamers still think FT is a bit too strong.

how evolve used to do it was every time monster would down someone that human player would have less max health cap. Up to 3 times then just die off when down a fourth time. Might work well in this game since you can take 2-3 minutes poking FT to down one just for them to be picked up and refill all their hp and run off

Yeah evolve did a great job with that

I do agree that at the moment the advantage is clearly Ft, and as someone who plays mostly FT (I’d rather play Predator but waits are forever) it’s just insane. When I’m playing alone yes a good predator can make for a hard match. But when I’m playing with others I’d really curious to know our win loss ratio. Because it has to be something busted. As soon as you learn how much damage the knives and snipers do, (snipers are justified but knives wtf) you just chew through these berserkers that everyone is complaining about.

Ya I literally just got out of a match and the whole team kept tryna chase me with knives. I didnt mind it so much before, and if its 1 or 2 parry doesn’t bother me, but full team? Knife damage needs hella reduction.

Only 1 got away. They were trying to hunt me, but lmao. Playing dark souls has helped me know how to fk with people who are completely based off parrying.

1v1 I didnt get parried. I wonder how much that pissed em off.

In conclusion. I want knife damage down, and something to be done about parrying. A nerf.

This would be great for them to look into

I’m like a broken record on this site but its because I am firm believer in it.

FT strength is fine until squads can exploit certain aspect of it.

The load outs. All of it.

There’s some arguement for the melees, parries and health. Both sides but thats minor tuning.

But the biggest tipping factor is kind of unrestricted fireteam is.

Predator there are so few options and they narrow down some of it and that’s about it. Three classes share a small pool of gear. Some of it obviously stronger than other and exception to some exploits Preds are well balance for their load outs and gear slots. Fine tuning needed of course.

Fireteam has literally no restrictions with weapons and class. The speed negative is trivial, the speed increase is a bit over the expectation. Do all combos work and come out OP? No, hell no. But if you four people to rock the same strong load out, health can coordinate the equipment on top of what they’ll always find? Its a bit over the top.

Its not really the health, its not the firepower individually, its not really the melee, its not really stamina - all those, just need fine tuning.

Its having access to everything as anyone.

On paper its player choice and things look like they will balance.

I swear if they take slight cue from Battlefield 3 classes and the loadouts are restricted to the classes role/expectation, I am certain that it will bring things in line.

This applies to gears as well. Its stronger than they think or want to believe. Not OP till you multiply by 4

Snipers with shotty back ups and big health pools with a medkit and speed heal in the back pocket. Thats alot. Multiply times 4? That is alot. Add in extended clips for just about everything? Thats alot.

Even for uncoordinated people, just players with decent aim. Add in a team with tactics?

The ability to spam spot, not spoting but spam till something turns red is something not I’m sure was not intended.

If loadouts are reworked, gear reworked, they wouldn’t have to buff and nerf stats accross the board.

Hell the Preds probably wouldn’t need that health boost they got.

I am completely avoiding the subject of the Berzerker because thats a different situation.

Now I’ve won alot, against idiots and against extreme good squads. I’ve also been the FT and beaten idiot preds who rush, zerkers who were melted by shottys.

I’ve never run out of ammo or been close to it. I’ve never need to conserve my shooting. My main loadout is almost perfect for range and close up.

I didn’t have to make a trade off in my load out. I have everything I need.

Again multiply by 4.

Yeah I mean my point exactly is that a good optimal team makes the game harder than you’d expect

That’s why we don’t trust steamers, cause they are full of shit.

I agree with this 110%

Fireteam literally runs like barry sanders on crack. It doesnt even look like real movement. It reminds me of left for dead. A good squad can win almost every time. In all honesty all they need to bring back is plasma full charge shots

It essence it doesnt matter to me. You need to use cloak effectively. By not moving when your in a good spot

FT has a higher skill ceiling.

Man I see not one lie here. I couldn’t agree more. I was just thinking to myself the other day about all of this. So much so, I thought about making my own discussion. But you are 100% right. Every single thing the predator has weather it’s a gadget or the alien himself is a giveaway to the fire team. From the purring during cloak, to his footsteps. And it’s really annoying because the FT almost seems to have a more stealth approach than the actual predator. I don’t understand why the smart diss makes noise. Everything just puts a big target on the predator as soon as you move or use something.
