Predator Universe expansion via IllFonic

Hello All,

I couldn’t find much information on what IllFonic can do with the Predator property–if someone has some information to point me to, I’ll be thankful.

My post is because I am a huge fan of Predator, aside of the movies, I have all comics and novels and I’ve just seen the following and I quote:

“This official prequel novel leads into the new PlayStation®4 video game from IllFonic. PREDATOR: STALKING SHADOWS is the bridge between Predator 2 and the current day continuity.”

I heard rumours that whatsoever IllFonic publishes in the game Predator: Hunting Grounds might be considered canon to the Predator Universe.

Yes, I know the game itself as of now have very little story…actually via the OWLF recordings there is a big leap in the story, as we are told what 's happened to Dutch after the movie Predator…

So I wonder how this game and new content added to it could help drive the expansion of the Predator universe

My only question is how much “The Predator” is considered canon. Because I don’t see any autistic kids we get to kidnap.

Only two Predator movies are canon, Predator 1 and 2. The other movies stank so bad that they almost ruined the franchise.

I see the comics/books as being canon. A lot of those characters from the comics/books should actually be put in this game. Even maps could be created based off them.

So please dont put these recent “Predator” movie characters in the game.

Please remember the “the” in “the predator” to avoid confusion.

But yeah, I want more stuff like cities, though it might be too much to balance, plus the canon of there just being a section of city with no civilians.

imo predators is better than predator 2. Too much Gary Bussey (or not enough, I dunno I’m torn in half on the matter.) I just rewatched those 3 and Predator 2 just feels kind of dated now, in a way that The Predator certainly doesn’t, and I suspect Predators won’t (it still hasn’t been long enough to say.)

I’m not sure but I think they only have the rights to the likeness of the predator and certain aspects of the first film. It would be great if they could include stuff from the films and comics but I don’t think they need to. They could easily come up with new armor designs, weapons, maps etc. If they could get the rights, I would prefer the dark horse stuff particularly Dredd vs Alien vs Predator

Dredd vs Yautja, now there’s a PayTV concept…

I’m pretty sure both Fox and Illfonic know that “The Predator” is hot garbage not to be referenced outside of Stargazer being deemed enemies and bringing OWLF back from Pred2 to pick up the pieces. That’s a W, but actual repairs to the lore to go away from the generic alien invader “Predators want to invade Earth” story has yet to be seen for me.

I enjoyed Predators as a concept but we didn’t need Super Predators.

Yeah the predator wasn’t cannon. Just p1 and p2 are. Not even the avp movie was cannon, the idea is cannon but they twisted everything so much that the only amount that’s related to the comics is the title

Dutch is never heard from again but his brother kills like 10 predators over the course of the comics trying to find dutch. Comics are still going to this day

Isn’t there some comic context somewhere that a rich guy is hunting yautja for their blood because it’s like the elixir of life, or some crap?

Thanks for the comment.

Exactly, if one considers the comics and novels as canon–once they expanded the story after the first movie–there are some tie-in with the game Predator: Hunting Grounds because:

Project Stargazer–the same one appearing in the game, if I’m not mistaken appears in a novel, as well in a comic book Predator: Hunters II which weirdly is a prequel to another comic Predator: Hunters :)

And that was the idea of my initial post, how much can IllFonic expand and if the expansion would be considered canon?

SPOLIER:
If one collects all the OWLF audio taps throughout the game, it provides a lot information of events that happened after the first and second movie–such as the reveal that Dutch was informally helping OWLF to track down Predators. After the disbanding of OWLF, project Stargazer was formed to proceed with the tracking of Predator… well, geeked too much :D :D apologies

Thank you for this. That’s what I am wondering, how much can IllFonic develop in game and this expansion would be consider cannon?

Because, right now, if you collect all those OWLF audio tapes, you got the story of Dutch after the ending of the first movie…which is a reveal—and now, should it be considered canon or not?

Predator dont belongs to fox anymore…belongs to Disney

Thank you all for commenting, I appreciate it.

I believe I might’ve not phrased my post that well…apologies for that.

Putting it simple:
If IllFonic introduces some sort of background story here and there to the game or add new weapons or abilities to Predator, would that be considered canon?

Because by collecting all the OWLF audio tapes scattered throughout the game, you got some big revelations–such as what’s happened to Dutch after the ending of the first movie–and this was never ever revealed, not in the comics, not in the novels…and this revelation ties-in OWLF and Stargazer (which consequently ties-in with some of the comics and novels) and the game Predator: Hunting Ground.

With such revelation in the game, should it be considered canon or not?

Many of you consider the novels and comics as canon once they expanded the universe, this way,
considering this piece of information of the initial post, it seems the game is somewhat viewed as “canon” and subsequently the content it might release:

“This official prequel novel leads into the new PlayStation®4 video game from IllFonic. PREDATOR: STALKING SHADOWS is the bridge between Predator 2 and the current day continuity.”

I hope this clarifies a bit the initial post :)

Very good point–Disney now owns Predator and Alien!

I don’t know if it’s valid, but I consider anything licensed to be “canon” unless it’s disavowed. If the licence holder did not agree to the plot, they should not allow the licence.

This would be a fantastic game mode. We already have plenty of mongoloids playing as FT members why not just make them play small children I can abduct
