Prey predator design

I can admire your optimism but unfortunately I feel we’ve been burned so much I’m more cynical but if be glad to be wrong

I can agree with that

Understandable, even making a simple theory as this would ultimately get me crucified by the fandom like “how dare you bring us hope” kinda thing.

I just want a good Predator movie we can all enjoy and judging from what has been given it’s ultimately promising

Lol idk if I’d say everyone crucified you, but have been around long enough to know when something is too good to be true but we can all agree on wanting a good predator movie so hopefully this ones it and then we’ll all be talking about it and how badass it was. A lot of us are jus holding off in case its not good to avoid more disappointment. Of be lying if i said i wasn’t excited at all but cautiously excited lol

Got me fucked up on that because now I’m imagining the horror if this was just the origin story for Upgrade…

I mean it’s having a pretty big first huge release so they must be very confident in their project to release it at San Diego Comicon as a early must see

Really? Im in Texas otherwise I’d be all in to see it at an event. A friend of mine was gonna see if theirs any special screenings here, but nothing announced yet. I still remember when predators and AvP came out and me and my boys went to see it in theatres and id wanna do that for this one as well.

I’m already unhappy with how they changed the face soo much (it seems from the screenshot anyway). There’s 0 good reason to deviate so much from the original… Even if this pred is from a different part of the planet, or even galaxy, the predator design (Stan Winston) has always been iconic in pop culture, and recognizable even to people who have never seen the movies… I’ll have to wait and see it without the mask to make a final judgement, but it already looks like this one is going to be just “another variant that nobody cares about”.

thus the shane blackverse lives on

Its perfect as is. It builds culture and realism. We have tons of diffrent helmets in our world for use in war. Right now diffrent countries and diffrent units wear diffrent helmets. And diffrent times used diffrent types and had diffrent designs depending on where you lived, greek helmets and spartans were very iconic, but go back to iron age with the full plated armour and helmets and those are iconic aswell. Having diffrent helmets for diffrent times and slight variantions for diffrent predators during same time is good. Makes it realistic. Some “countries” in the land of the Yautja might use the JH mask whilst another “country” would use CH for example. And if we go back in time maybe this design for Prey was really normal for the “country” that yautja came from. Ya’ll get what im saying😎

It has been stated that he is another subspecies of Yautja from another hemisphere on Yautja Prime by either the Director or Producer.

Nah. It shows cultural diversity. Yes, what Winston created is iconic, but it shouldn’t be the 100% standard. Even City Hunter was different, and it was also a Winston creation. And the Super Preds. Its no different than here on earth, humans come in all kinds of shapes and colors, species diversity like that would be no different on other planets. So having a Pred like this one makes perfect sense.

What’s unique about the hemispheres of Yautja prime?

That was my point I made that the JH, CH, elder, wolf, Celtic, scar, etc were different but the same as far as base design. My question is at what point is it just changing the iconic look?

Hell if I know. I’m just giving the director the benefit of the doubt for his statements about the look of his Pred, based on the diversity of the numerous species found on earth. No doubt, through either natural evolution or genetic manipulation, the Yautja species would have similar diversities, no?

Do you mean physical look, like its body/head? Or its armor? I see the argument, as with humans while we do look very different depending on where we’re from, at our core we are all the same in design. I’m just trying to expand on that based on assumption, like, what if Prey’s Pred comes from a genetic offshoot of the rest? Same thing with the human ancestors, there are so many variations and offshoots and evolution paths that were taken. Some were huge, some were small, some had different skull shapes, larger eyes, etc. The same could be applied to the Yautja, in theory.

Yes. It’s just that it’s hanging in the air not really given a proper explanation.

Maybe I’m making stuff up, but for humans perhaps it was the sun that dictated skin pigmentation and environment and diet dictated physical appearance. If they already mention the hemisphere, they should give a little more insight. Lazy writing

Which is making that “Island” theory alittle more possible

Very close. 99% of species division is genetics. Color, bone structure, appearance, etc. Its all based on DNA, chromosomes, alleles, and whatnot. Outside influence accounts for that missing 1%, and that’s what causes variance in the evolutions, which does include climate, diet, other species interactions, etc. It also boils down to “survival of the fittest”, meaning those with superior survival attributes have better genetics, and while the inferior die off, the superior will breed and pass on their genetics and over time that species will gain physical attributes that will better suit them for their environment. And this is all evident in all animals, so in theory that must also apply to creatures off-world, like the Yautja.

Either way…yeah, lazy writing. I’m sure there will be more interviews that will shed light on the new Pred, or maybe even an art book. Cuz its sure not getting explained in the film lol.

I hope they do give s little more information cause it’s not like Feral will tell us😁

How much influence do random mutations have? Are they a part of the outside 1% or are they their own category?
