Doesn’t matter if actual comanches were offended or not. The eternally offended got rid of the football team “redskins” because people got offended on behalf of native Americans despite a majority of natives polled enjoyed the name or thought it was funny.
Prey ratings
What takeaway would you say Prey offered about the Comanche.
I’ve seen the movie only once so far and I’d say the were: nomadic warriors, brave, hunter gatherers, respected elders (minus Naru), used bows and spears as weapons, moved on foot but knew how to use horses, had rites of pasage, seemed patriarchal but elders were respect regardless of gender… Nothing specific really. I didn’t pay much attention to the clothing.
Oh, and that the lived in the great northern plains 😂
I’d would still like to know if they liked how they were portrayed and maybe which aspects of their culture should have been shown more.
Funny thing about native Americans and horses… horses were introduced to them by European settlers as they aren’t native to the America’s. Their lack of animal husbandry is also why they were so prone to diseases that the settlers were used and immune to.
I did hear that about the horses, but not the extension you provided.
What? Where is this proccing?
Nope
My take away
They’re Indian
Fury road is a great movie , its also a feminist movie , but its done better and more tolerable
I liked Prey, but the criticisms do have some points. But I think we can all agree: Prey is a hundred times better than Shane Black’s the Predator. Yes, I know two years have passed since its release, but I’m still gonna fuckin’ harp on it for the stupid DNA splicing BS, and that whole movie autism shit. As someone who’s on the autism spectrum, might I add. Also, Shane Black knowingly bringing in a REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER. Let that sink in.
I mean 90% + of Hollywood are sex offenders, rapists or defend those people … so
well kind of.
Welcome to Hollywood 😄
8/10, brought back what the original predator did best. Back to it’s old roots.
very solid, thoroughly enjoyed.
90%+? Lowballing it today, aren’t we?
The other 10% are just too stupid to understand what’s going on. I mean actors aren’t known for being smart after all
fair enough
Which was? Suspense? Interesting characters? Prey had neither
Being a killer worth it’s salt
How about the concept of single predator instead of hunting parties, and I disagree with the interesting characters statement. The native American girl (naru I think is her name)
wasn’t made a Mary sue like other newer female protagonists,
‘cough’ Rey palpatine ‘cough’
She had to train and hone her skills, example: when we see her training with her axes, she does well, but once the targets start moving (the rabbit), it was challenging. Her first hunt between her and a mountain lion resulted in her failure, or where she nearly got killed by a bear.
It also showed predators hunting in the past for the first time. I hope we see more historical hunts.
