Because there was a genuine decline in how media was written from 2010 onwards. A lot of fake fans got into circles and started subverting & tearing down media people had no problem with. They created this culture & the huge pushback from it is entirely their fault. Poke a bear long enough, ya get fucking bit & it’s a prime reason why fans ABSOLUTELY should gatekeep certain people out of the media they engage with because certain people are not in it to enjoy things, they wanna tear it down. And this goes beyond Woke, again there are a TON of cynical assholes in this world who think Heroes in media should be as flawed & miserable as they are. They should be kept away from writing & creating.
You’re a Terminator fan, how do you feel about Dark Fate opening up on John from the end of T2 just getting shot point blank and thus destroying not only the entire point of T1 & T2 but the franchise as a whole because this not only kills off the Kid the entire story was about saving but also WIPES SKYNET FROM EXISTING IN THE 1st PLACE. It’s bad fucking writing & whoever wrote that SHOULD have been gatekept.
Yeah but look at Prey, its such an obvious good film with a great female lead protag but people still try to find a way to justify wokeness. The pervious stuff I mentioned would go through that same shit regardless, all due to today’s mindset. It’s why I despise culture war with a fuckin fire that makes the fires of hell look like a cooking fire, no one can make proper critiques of any film without blaming the race or gender of the film somehow instead of looking at the writing like how its supposed to be looked at.
Yeah I’m not denying that, but I’m also smart enough to realise the rise of Woke Media created this problem in the first place. Because now we have prideful & illiterate assholes who have been backed so far into a corner that when even unironic good written media comes before them they’ve been conditioned to not accept it because EVERYTHING ELSE has been so fucking awful. If movies never went woke to begin with, Prey would be accepted with open arms.
I remember judge not the book by it’s cover, its a wise saying but people forget. I’m not a fan of Star Wars but at least i can say the film sucks without dunking on Rey for being a woman. Like how is that so hard to not do? It’s why I can’t take their words seriously as they somehow ties to the fault of the character’s race or gender. It’s agonizing. Ant-woke people have no excuses, just justifications of bashing people of color, gender, or sexual orientation.
The problem was that the marketing for this movie was fucking godawful. Like I haven’t seen a marketing campaign this bad in ages. And then I saw the movie yesterday and it was fucking nothing like any of the marketing made it to seem.
They should fire the marketing team for this one, unironically.

I would agree on that, especially since Dan said he wanted the marketing to be kept in secret to ensure the surprise of the Predator to be a fun one when it’s revealed.
I mean I’m Anti-Woke and I’m also a Bisexual with Minority Heritage. Hating Woke shit has nothing to do with identity, I just hate garbage that excuses bad characters & gives unerned power & status. Life is not black & white my dude.
I can bash on Rey’s writing without including the fact that she is a women. Her being a woman isn’t a factor to this. She could have been a man and the writing of the film would still be shit for being a Gary Stu. People can’t seem to do that. Its easy but they do it regardless so of course I’m going to suspect woman hating.
But it is BECAUSE she is a Woman that she is defended so adamently & allowed to get away with this shit. And I know this for a fact because guess what, I’ve also been a Star Wars fan since I was a wee lad and I remember Starkiller to this very day and how EVERYBODY hated him for the EXACT same reasons they do Rey, but NOBODY ever stood up to defend him.
And Galen STILL had more believable reasons for his power than Rey, being the Apprentice of Darth Vader & the child of two full on Jedi Knights. Rey had a different origin in every instalment of the trilogy. if they had just said from DAY 1 she was Palpatine’s granddaughter and actually had the movies be about her struggling with that identity and shit that would have potential. But no, they went in with ZERO planning.
Like you’re not fucking Toriyama, you can’t just wing shit & make it work. You’re not a modern day genius, you’re a talentless hack.

They are in the wrong too?! Bashing/protecting a badly written character due to their gender/race/sexual orientation is always wrong. Like I’m never going to defend the other way around it either. Just that for anti-woke people that claim to be the paragons of logic and better judgement of entertainment, they sure go the opposite route and do just as dumb judgement calls all the same. I cast a curse on all of them, plague on their houses, may they never know peace!
Well that’s why I stopped being vocal about the topic, that and I grew up past my teenage years and didn’t find constant conflict fun anymore which was half the reason i’d get into debates because guess what KIDS ARE STUPID.
It’s like Atheism and why even though I’m an Agnostic I don’t associate myself with others who share similar beliefs. Because it became JUST AS MUCH OF A CULT as what they were against. I’m still Anti-SJW & have no shame in any of that, but I ain’t taking part in the community & shit.

This point right here , didn’t they say in the phg audio tapes , that city hunter was hundreds of years old? I cant remember exactly. But if the yautja have such long life spans , wouldn’t that mean prey is set not even a generation before the other movies? At a push let’s say two generations

tbh if a Predator film does not have Dutch walking through plsma shots that rip limbs and put holes in every other human, people won’t like it. A 50 year old Danny Glover is allowed to shamelessly 1v1 a Predator in hand to hand but god forbid a female warrior with actual combat skills pulling anything off 🤣whoever lists Predator 2 as their fav film should be ashamed
