Reinforcements and balancing around reinforcements

Preds hate 'em. Fireteam wants to be 'em.
Reinforcement thread time.
Just mostly talking for the health of pubs for this one, super sweaty play aside.

I completely understand the necessity of a mechanic to keep the fireteam in the game and not ALT F4 the match because they died two minutes in. Also gives the fireteam another opportunity to take on the pred or escape if they were just off their game for the first half and slipped up somewhere.
My issue with it is that as fireteam you start to play around the idea that you have two lives. It’s more advantegous to just finish whatever objective and then suicide before the reinforce and get all your gear back & just undos everything which is the problem.

As for pred you either full wipe the fireteam to completely prevent the reinforce which leads to 3 minute games or you play around with the fireteam let them reinforce because they aren’t much of a threat and farm them for xp. The latter feels very, very close to Dead by Daylight’s pip system that some people hate where the killer is encouraged to play around with the survivors rather than hooking everyone 3 minutes in and ending the game with no xp because that game had a pretty similar curbstomping killer issue in public matches. This pretty much fixed pubs, however it became to the killers detriment to have any short wipe matches at all, the game was balanced around the killer having to farm the team and not go for quick kills. For reference, the killer there can’t do a lot of killing he mostly just chases people around and has to let them escape or free their friends so he can chase them around some more. Even if the survivors were good he still had to try to farm them for xp or its essentially a loss while the survivors became the ones who farmed him instead which has a lot to do with how that game falls apart with both sides equal in skill.

So other than comparing the two games here, question here is whether or not it would be better to encourage farming the fireteam for xp/veratanium since preds tend to jump immediately on the “DELETE REINFORCEMENTS. WHY DO THEY COME BACK FROM THE DEAD” train. And is it a bad idea to balance around reinforcements being anything other than a lucky second chance, not something to be guaranteed as you stumble upon the radio to find it covered in bear traps?

reinforce would be fine if they spawned in with less of their ammo/equipment or with less Max hp ie support would go from 175 to 160 or they can only get downed once something of that nature would work

otherwise as it stands all PREDATORS should learn every single reinforce and spend the first 2 minutes finding reinforce & trapping it that forces FT to either risk reinforce or risk trying to leave via the mission that’s what i do and now i don’t lose games unless a bug comes up and fucks me or i afk for a short time and they end up xtracting way earlier than i would want them too

that’s literally all they can do aside from drastic changes like removing it/ only 2 FT can come back max/
they come in with a D-fault loadout with QR4 the first handgun and shit perks and some frag grenades + syrenge they could make the D-fault diffrent for each class as well which would probably make the dutch the best class for that circumstance

as it stands right now reinforce is broken op FT can potentially reinforce 2 times per game which is ABSURD

Yeah I feel like “UGH I CANT BELIEVE YOU BEAR TRAPPED THE REINFORCE WHY CANT WE DESTROY TRAPS” complaints are relatively new but just stem from people going into a match thinking they’re guaranteed multiple lives.

Reinforcements needs to not fully re equip FT. Simple as that, 'nough said

it’s what i do and i’ve had FT leave the moment they see it or complain about it after the game i tell all of them the same thing

“i don’t play for XP i play for the win if you want Reinforce you have to earn it”

albeit i probably do agree Bear traps should be destroyable along with the Stick but if that’s the case i should be able to redeploy BT’s that don’t trigger in case of a missed throw or a bad placement

exactly, right now it’s a get out of death free card, get all your resources back - fresh start…

hell i even have jpegs of all the reinforcement placements i just don’t post it cause i don’t want Illfonic to change em up cause all pred’s started trapping em LOL

the disc is so why isn’t the stick
either both are or aren’t
can’t be just one that’s dumb

also the stick and disc throw are the single most powerful weapons we have they one shot down low hp classes and one throw +melee downs everyone else
they should be destroyable so preds don’t run at FT chucking their stick and immediatly going in and picking it up just to do it again for free downs

no, it’s stupid lol… lemme destroy your guns then lol… it’s stupid they made the disk destructible in the first place smh… it’s made the same material all Pred gear/tech/armor is made up of… which is no pushover metal and cannot be destroyed by mere human small arms fire lol

Bear traps are too loud and obvious to be destroyable, they’d be worthless aside from just dropping them on top of people. It’s just flat area denial right now which is fine imo. “Shit shimmering, buzzing thing I guess Ill go out the other door.”

i suppose but in some cases you can place them so they HAVE to interact with them which if they do and it’s in pred line of sight they die for it no counterplay

which is kind of fucked up

Can still turn and shoot though so not a big deal. Worst case scenario let a friendly FT shoot the trap after its triggered if it needs that much counterplay.

@Finessology Someone on this forum made a good point where if the Pred gets a full claim, then that Fireteam member can’t respawn even with reinforce call. I think thats fair enough since Full claims are rare and punish bad FT members. Also it gives the other FT members a chance to punish the Pred if he is not careful.

Because the stick is stronger metal.
I dont think either one should be, but if that’s the case I’d like ft guns to jam or be destroyable as well as ft limbs.

even if they can turn and shoot a single combistick throw/ disc throw means there dead for being in a trap
when they could instead be able to destroy the trap so that the pred can’t get an easy one shot kill

besides a pred could avoid this by point blank chucking traps at the FT and quickswaping to melee like they do nets

it’s a shitty arguement to make but it’s one worth mentioning

well we can destroy their ammo and medkits and everything else they can throw on the ground guys so why can’t FT destroy everything pred can throw on the ground

regardless i can see no one likes that take which is fine it just means predator stays strong with little counterplay around certain mechanics which is fine i main pred anyway lol

disabling Pred traps/sensors is honestly fine but destroying main weapons is beyond ridiculous lol
