Sad to hear that too! What do you think is the reason? Is it that the sense of community has been lost?

no way… :)))

Thanks for your concern. Its away of life now. There’s internal problems, but as many other countries would say, neighbors (neighbouring nations) are a problem too.

I know…

True. I can relate. My folks and their friends talk about times under Soviet union’s pseudo-communism as some golden age. People were poor, but they were more content. Freedom has its price.

Ukrainian are weird folk. Most of their history they were occupied. When that happens, they unite and get rid of the foreign power. But right after they start fighting among themselves which makes it ripe for another country to come in and take over. Happened so many times and they just won’t learn.

It is quite similar in Germany. The era of “Helmut Kohl”, my youth, was a golden era.

In this times we had a system called “Soziale Marktwirtschaft”, which somehow was somewhere between communism and capitalism.

Though there was the “cold war”, everything felt safe and stable.

Chancellor “Gerhard Schroeder” has demolished that system some twenty years ago.

Now it is “everybody against everybody”.

It is just a joke of history that said Schroeder nowadays is working for Gazprom…

Interesting too is, that people (nowadays) obviously just are able to think in two categories… Black or white…

Think about a system, where the health system, police, fire service, system of justice and alike need not be profitable, whereas the rules of economy are those of capitalism. Would be nice, eh?

That’s what “Soziale Marktwirtschaft” was about :)

As the world became more connected new ways of profit and control came about. No country is its own pond anymore. Its all a global now. There’s no more ‘for the people’, it’s all ‘people against people’.

Imho the reason is ideology - our nation is divided 50/50 between right conservative supporters and left liberals supporters. Constant fighting, constant arguing, even between family members and the conservative government who is more and more like a dictatorship, trying to stigmatize people who are oppose to it… it slowly kills the spirit of our nation. Poles always were freedom fighters, now we are the ones killing that very virtue in our own country.

I am afraid, there is some truth in that… At least it seems that this “everybody against everybody” became popular world wide… :(

That’s it! It is the same everywhere…

Ask an US american whether democrats and republicans still can discuss together without shooting each other…

I think it is a consequence of some kind of decadency… If people have no real existential sorrows anymore, they tend to change their focus onto stupid things…

Sounds good… how do you stop the users of such system from exploiting it? Polish nation is fantastic to interact with, party and stuff… but - and I say this as Polish citizen by birth - we are corrupt as fak. We will find a way to exploit any political system there is… I thin kwhat needs to change is people mentalyty. By proper education mayby?

…by changing what is considered reputable.

exactly!

And the sad story is: it has changed in Germany too, but unfortunately from (a little simplified) “honourable” to “egoistic”.

Take the VW-Diesel-Gate-example into account.

Whereas the US justice has punished VW very hard, one cannot say the same about the German justice, if you ask me.

And here we come back to “identity has been lost”. The “Made in Germany” mentality has been lost. Now it more is a “Outwit your Customer” mentality here.

For outwitting, you do not need technology but just words - and this easily raises the profit; but this just works for a short period. If everybody knows, that a company does it, nobody will be interested to be customer anymore…

Now, do not ask me, why exactly the mentality has changed… I have my ideas concerning this topic, but they are not very popular and typing them might not be a good idea :)

PS: but I can reveal, that the reasons for this change is a in-house reason from my POV. It does not need foreigners for that, although they might have had a part in that too:)
