Scout predator strategy

Scout mains arise! Anyone wanna share some advanced tips or general game plan for scout class &&help us all become better hunters?

Hello! Unfortunately, scouts are not playable. Mobility and endurance is useless. At the same time, Scout has little health and not enough space for equipment.

I recommend taking a Hunter with a bow and a net, as well as a bear trap.
From perks: additional damage from long-range weapons + perk to traps + perk for less invisibility.

I think it makes no sense to talk about tactics in detail. The main thing is to knock down at least one TF. Then use it as a bait for the rest.

My scout build has had some good use. I use the handheld and the bow. Downrange, impenetrable, and the one that lets you take less damage in trees. This is because you are going full range, and the double up on damage resistance allows you more shot in, taking full use of the near invisibility of not moving. I bring a healing kit and audio decoy, but I haven’t had to use either with the new pig tracker.

Basically, if they are running or shooting at you, use the bow. If they are hopping around or are having problems with the bow, use the handheld. I try to down with the bow, and the handheld the person picking them up.

As in tactics, stay in the trees at all times, Aim for the mudded people, because they think themselves safer, When they leave the area, collect your arrows before continuing to harass them. Don’t go for the kill/claim. Live. Retreat for boars to heal. Just because its as tanky as possible for a scout doesn’t mean its actually tanky. If your spotted, move. Keep the cloak on. If it needs a recharge, move while uncloaked. The only time you should be still is when you heal, or when you are shooting. If all else fails, use the plasma cannon at exfil, the aoe will be helpful then. Never go into melee unless you are positive you will make it out alive. I’ll finish off the last guy or other opportune moments with wristblades.

I think that covers it. Questions?

Not at all trying to be a dick, but I play as scout all the time and consistently get 4 kills in the first 5 mins of the game. I’ve done 3 three games in a row just today. If you play scout right, it’s very easy to get kills. I just equip the perks that revolve around being cloked, jump in the middle of the battle, stay completely still crouched in one spot and use the hand cannon so they FT thinks it’s my plasma caster coming from the trees. Then just finish the team off with the combi stick. Long claim for each.

The only time it’s hard to win as scout is when the FT trolls the predator. They ignore the objectives and laser you and then chase you in second wind, kill you and then tea bag you.

This is like abuse broken mechanics.

It’s not my fault it’s an option to do that. It’s in the realm of what I can do as predator, and it’s a fun way to play for me. I see no harm in doing this. It’s legal until they make it not an option in my eyes. Same as the still unlimited parry on the FT.

So I run a bow and bear with me here, the combistick.

For perks I run the lense perk, energy perk and for now I think heal faster until they fix cooling snyc perk to function properly. I dont wanna get used to damage modifiers or def because it’ll all be patched differently eventually, its how video games go.

There’s a device that not alot of people talk about thata not the decoy, trap or heal that we should keep secret as long as possible. I use that one. If the fire team hasn’t tried to counter hunt me I’ll hit a base I know they normally cross and plant the device there or if I know a radio location.

With Scout its all about distance. And patience. You need to stalk them and harass them. The moment they spot you be ready to back away. If they chase you, fine burn their time and lead them to a base to set off alarms.

Unless a poor soul has wondered so far off or been ditched, don’t jump down for melees.

The bow doesn’t put out a laser so hit em with it hard. Takes some learning but try hard to get the hang of it.

If they get counter aggressive break off and plasma them. If they run, plasma them.

They hide in a building plant the device and stalk the exits.

The lense perk helps hide your aim when charging the shot and when you wanna bait a downed guy.

As for the combistick, two reasons. Main one is for AI, slaughter groups of them when they try to ruin your collecting.

Last reason is the extraction. Fire teams usually hold each other’s buttcheeks here in diamond formation and unfortunately as much as everyone hates its, its what this tool was designed for, Im sorry to fire team guys that berserkers ruined it for you/us.

I do make it a point to use my wrist blade if there’s 2 or 1 person left. If there’s 4 or 3, the combi stick is being used.

Scouts are very playable after the buffs to gear limit and it now being a breeze to find pigs! My general strategy is to set off alarms & if possible find the respawn beacon and put a motion tracker on it. Harrass from range with my plasma caster while constantly attacking from different angles. This usually does the trick but against a good spot spam team it can be a nightmare. I run net gun and combistick. To solve the spot problem I’ll set up motion detectors so I can track the 4 of them around the base and I’ll stay on the ground which sounds like suicide with the scout class but the scout class can escape better than any other class. What I do is apply an unrelenting blitzkrieg hit and run tactic. Run in and USE THAT NET GUN! Ideally you want to get a few melee hits in or a down BUT if they’re grouped up just net them and let the AI damage them, run away and set a bear trap and stand still if they’re chasing. You can weave around the natural cover extremely quickly and quickly stand still and assess whether you can double back for more damage or re position and repeat. When you get a down make sure you put down your bear teaps nearby ! When they come to rescue, net them up and get more damage in. The goal here isn’t to get kills its to make them WEAK. After you’ve done this enough you can take high ground once again and they should be EASY downs with your plasma cannon

Hunter build based on exhaustion. Works with Scout. Parkour masters should be replaced with an increased supply of energy.

I use the smart disc and war club, sometimes I’ll bring the bow. The perks I tend to use are dithered lens, the one that reduces overcharge time, and the One that allows me to see muddied footprints.

I usually always start off by heading to every camp and dropping motion sensors where I think the FT will be later on. Along the way I will kill any boar that I happen to find so that I can heal if need and almost any never cloaked unless I’m in a camp to drop a motion sensor. Usually after 30 seconds to a minute of me placing them the FT will trigger one and I’ll use the trees to get there uncloaked and scan for who’s where. I will usually wait a bit before firing to make sure I know where they all are. Depending on how close they are together I will charge up a shot by first looking up towards the sky and aiming down low giving the FT less time to react. After the initial hit I’ll try for a second hit depending on whether not I’ve been made. If I have been spotted I’ll cloak and run around the camp and keep pelting them with shots. I’ll try to get close and around corners to hit them with disc.

By now I’d have downed someone If I did I’ll loom around the body and wait for someone to revive them so I can some more shots in. I will try to make sure and kill the downed one to see if they try and reinforce. My favorite thing to do is to let someone try and revive only to shoot the downed person in the head with the bow outright killing them in front of the other person.

Now that sounds like a really nasty and unhonorable way to hunt!.. I will give it a shot in 10 mins XD Thanks!

Here some tips, I find this guy’s playstyle pretty good: https://youtu.be/hYhTn2A5xJI

The most effective scout strat post 1.06 that I found(and played scout and hunter since, never played berserker as I prefer speed over strength) is with the combi(for exfils, but mainly for the throw) and net gun, my perks were trapper, dithered lenses, and modified reserves(energy regen increase) the build is built around PC harass, you can use the spear to throw and down FT that you KNOW are low from PC harass, if I manage to knock one I’ll close the distance a bit and continue the PC onslaught harass, if the engagement becomes favorable from that point I’ll switch to net gun and go for the out of position FT member, weaving the Wrist Blade swings with net gun shots to keep my target netted for an easy knock, if at any point I start taking too much damage I’ll retreat back to midrange and go back to PC harass, until the engagement favors the net again, I try to not finish knocked FTs as they make exceptional bait, but if you arent keeping track of all your knocks the fight will quickly swing back in FT favor

I go downrange jump and cooldown sync. In the end you have to hit them… thats all that matters

Level 100 Predator, 80 of which Scout only.

I run Bow, Net, Medkits and Audio Decoys. With Impenetrable, Large Pouch and Light Bender perks.
Of course this is not a mandatory template and I would advise using all perks and weapons to see which ones you think suits you the most.

Scout is fast and agile and that are its bonuses which you will use to win. But it also has weakest armour and health. That is why I like it, as it provides extra challenge and extra fluency to the game.
At first you would think that Scout is ranged only, but later on you’ll realise that it is not the case if you apply certain techniques.

Don’t play just for kills and wins, play for damage and the torment of the Fire Team. Most importantly, play to survive, even if it means one or two members can get extraction. Eventually you will begin to learn how to punish each Fire Team member in different situations with a death sentence and becoming part of your collection.

First and foremost, stop using heat vision as your prime vision. Get used to hunt in non heat mode. Use heat vision just to get bearings and snap shot on potential location of Fire Team. You can switch to it as often as you like, but don’t get stuck in it. Try to do as much as possible without heat vision.
This is because:

  1. You can see mudded people and they think they are smart and you cant see them
  2. You can see who is badly hurt (blood all over them)
  3. At some point you can loose you mask and if you are not familiar with how to hunt and orient without heat vision, you are screwed.

Second, use jumps and leaps, get used to these mechanics. Use trees to travel around fast, but don’t limit yourself to trees. Always swap between trees, roofs and the ground. When you get spotted, keep leaping around 2-3-4 times until their head spins so much that they get dizzy from spinning around and lose bearing on you.
Never run in a straight line and if you are retreating, combine running with leaping and jumping.

Third, be cloaked for as long as your energy allows you. With Light Bender perk you can stay cloaked for 1:30 minutes. Once energy runs out, hide and quickly recharge energy.

At low levels, before you get net gun and the bow, you need to use wrist blades only and go into melee. This is because while levelling to get net and the bow, you will learn how to melee and in which situation you can do what. Also once you get net gun, you will know how to melee with wrist blades and these two work great together simply because you don’t need to switch to a melee weapon.
This is also because in late games with high level Fire Teams, you will get spotted a lot and chances are they are not that great at melee and don’t expect you to melee them (or they think they are tough guys which they aren’t), since they think you are Scout, thus ranged only. While you attack with ranged weapons and keep being spotted and shot at, the Fire Team begins to think that a 50m range is all you will go for and thus their guard loosens and they begin to act neglecting the thought, that you might actually come and stab them. And you will!

You will fail a lot, but this is process of learning. You don’t need to go full on melee on someone all the time, but few cuts and retreat, few cuts and retreat. Scout is great for that.
When you see someone is badly hurt, you should got for a kill. However before you do, make sure that your health bar is at least 3/4 full and you have second wind up.
If your hp is 1/4 before you kill someone and/or after you claimed first victim, go look for a boar, don’t use medkits. Unless of course if only one Fire Team member left in the camp, then you can either gamble and try to down him without healing, or quickly heal up and hunt that one down. Or if you think that there is an opportunity to down whole team or put a lot of pressure on them currently, then heal up using medkit and continue the hunt. That’s why Large Pouch can provide you with an extra opportunity.

When you run without the bow and net gun, you must always capitalise on the first kill and claim it. First kill claim is important as this reduced team to 3 and leaves them with a choice whether to continue with missions or go and get reinforcement. Depending on what they choose, you can then act accordingly. Sometimes they split and either one runs to get reinforcement, or two run to reinforcement and one stays on the mission. If you have no net gun, you should pick on the one whether he went to reinforce or stayed at the mission. If you pick one at the mission and got him down, don’t claim until reinforcement has been fulfilled. That way, when one missing member comes back, another will go down and they still will be left with 3, but lost time to do missions.
When you run with a net gun, you can take on two people(you can do it even without it, but with it you will save a lot of hp) at the same time, by netting them both continuously and attacking one and downing him, then another. Make sure to do it fast, because if reinforcement has been fulfilled before you downed them, chances are two other troopers are running back to the engagement location.

Once you get bow, gameplay slightly changes and you need to start using it a lot to become familiar with it. It has its bugs and sometimes shoots arrows completely wrong direction.
When you downed one, you then have a choice, whether go and capitalise on the kill, or wait until friendlies come to help. If you choose to wait for friendlies and you have a good view, then start shooting at the ones who try to help him I’ve had many encounters where whole team died because they rushed to help their downed team mate. Or they tried to help, got hp reduced, eventually picked that member, up, but all are with low HP. That is when you can just charge in and melee them all.
Always stand still even when they shoot in your direction. Chances are they don’t know you are there and just shooting at the location they think you might be and in most cases they miss and shoot into other direction while you are giving them more arrows.
Always pick your arrows up after Fire Team left the engagement area, so that you can continue your shooting at another location.

If you are in range and want to capitalise on the kill, leap in with a smash, claim the scull and retreat.

If you are having difficulties hitting people with a bow, then go melee them, because as mentioned above, they will expect you to be ranged only.
Then switch back to bow. Rinse and repeat at any intervals.

If you are in your second wind, leap out 2-3 times, depending on the situation. I sometimes just hide nearby and heal, because 3 out of 4 is down. But this is risky as some people just go after you no matter what happened to their team. So preferable to leap out some distance and then heal. You can outrun them even if they are chasing you, because Scout has a bit of stamina to benefit from.

If Fire Team does not want to split, you have to bait them with yourself, let them spot you and land few hits, run around pretending you want to attack and commit to a brief charge and retreat lettering them see you. In a lot of cases there will be a Fire Team player who thinks he can take on the Predator on his own, especially thinking that since you are a Scout, you will be an easy kill. Let him come making sure his team is at the distance from him and then send him to a spectator view. You can take on two also and its easier if you have a net gun.

I let their arrogance defeat themselves.

If team is noobish, I usually get 2-3 and let remaining call reinforcement. If team is not noobish, I tend to finish them off as quickly as I can and don’t give them any opportunities.

I usually go for ranged first, as they are most cocky players and think they are your counter, they are not. Even with a bow and them seeing you, you can still down them.

If I see someone running after me thinking they can kill me on their own, run around with a knife after me, I make sure they are the next victim so that they remain out of game until the end of it. So that they sit and think of their rotten attitude.

If I get into games with 2, 1 player/s I try to help them with missions making sure they evacuate safely. But 90% of cases they are just hostile towards you from the minute 1 and don’t want your help. So I then just quickly pop them.

Hope this will help.

But once they do something about this spotter can’t do anything when you’re constantly spammed every two dang seconds constantly know where you’re at you can’t do anything with that
