He said common flu. Swine flu is a more deleterious strain of the original. And if it is new variant it would be labeled as such. The names attributed to diseases and stuff is derived from differences from what is already known and it’s characteristics are. Now your not wrong the similarities are there and they both had outbreaks, the difference is lethality, and the additional effects and characteristics that differentiates the two.
