I’m always getting spotted by PC players from 50 meters away even while cloaked and stationary. When are they going to remove the option for PC players to mess with their graphical settings so they can see the predator easier, as I’ve heard of and seen this happen.
Seeing the predator while cloaked and standing still.
I don’t see them doing that because there are people that need to turn the graphics low in order to play. Hopefully it gets addressed one way or another.
The only problem being, it’s really ruining the game and giving some PC fire team members who use it an extremely unfair advantage. I don’t see a way to counter it other than making the predator’s cloak not bend light, and make you completely invisible. It would ruin the feel of the game, and take away from the experience a bit, but I honestly do not know a way to counter it other than that.
I run on relatively low settings on PC but ill tell you how I spot preds often.
First, Graphically, if there is any exploits, I havent seen them be that much more advantageous. Im on a potato PC so I have to play on low graphics, but I played for a while on highest settings 2 months after launch and didnt really notice the difference. So while graphics settings might be a factor, I dont believe them to be so large that they are the reason PC fts are spotting you so easily.
The reason as an FT I can spot you so easily on PC, is because the ambient random pred clicking noises you make, they are very loud and very directional, to the extent where with a decent headset, you can not only hear exactly what direction pred is in, but exactly how far away he is. Meaning that even if you are perfectly cloaked standing still, if I hear you I am either gonna spot the area or im gonna spray a few bullets along spots you could be searching for hitmarkers.
On top of that, If I spotted you before you started standing still, and I see you stand still and go invis, obviously im gonna start blasting.
And finally as for preds cloak at a distance, its far more noticeable at longer distances because it lights up like a christmas tree. My suggestion to deal with this?
Skinning your pred like this creates natural camoflauge in trees. Never cloak when you are stalking the FT (The directional Clicking noises only happen when you are cloaked), Just move slowly, they almost certainly wont notice you unless they saw you leaping towards them. Only cloak to make it harder for them to track you when you are fighting them close range.
On PS4 I’m scanning the tree-lines and rooftops anyways. Any player who runs enough matches will know that it’s pretty common for Predators to do this. You do turn (totally) invisible when cloaked but since I’m already looking I can spot the shimmer before you stop. Attentive FT will see this. It’s especially noticeable when Predator starts clicking.
I like your suggestion, I’ll try it out once I get some more veritanium. I also see that you’re playing scout, and I forgot how much I like scout. To be honest, I’ve been playing a lot of jungle hunter recently. What loadout and perk setup do you recommend for scout? I’m running the bow and smart disk, and for perks i have large pouch, cooling syncs, and impenetrable.
I run Adrenal boost (the stamina one), Long jump, and usually down range.
Makes leaping long distance and spamable, which is exactly how you want it. You pretty much never have to worry bout stamina.
I run medkit and motion detectors. (Audio decoys are worthless on scout as you are moving to much for it to matter)
and I run bow and smart disc or netgun. I rarely use the second, I just roll with the bow. Close range fast firing into wrist blades is pretty powerful. Plus it makes you unpredictable.
Side note, run the same setup on city hunter if you have it. Its pretty much the best of both worlds.
(Though making skin green is 25000 verit so fuck that lol)
They’re not useless, you just have to plan ahead, you place them early on a route you’re familiar with, when you get Second Winded, you run by them. Leave a blood spot behind a tree like you’re healing and dip.
As a Pred chaser I can tell you having a second set of Pred noise can make the difference between staying right with you and you getting away Scott free.
I meant for the playstyle I use. I know how to use audio decoys, and in other playstyles they are extremely useful.
Still, motion sensors are useful, when you know where the reinforcement radio is.
I’ll never go into a hunt without my audio decoys. Well almost never.
Yeah the Motion sensors are OP if you know how to place them. I like the Audio decoys, but they get no respect.
Imo they are a no brainer kinda gear yenno? Like with how bad preds sound is right now they are necessary.
I personally love the clicking. Makes life more exciting.
Good night all, it’s been an interesting day.
I do the same thing except I go bright green with my Camo. Allows me to dive into the bushes uncloaked and often times lose the FT, unless I’m winded of course then I have to employ a different tactic.
Most FT are generally trying to rush objectives or Veritanium hunt until they here you clicking. When they do hear you they start scouring the trees for you. So I’ve been remaining uncloaked and ground approaching often. Like you I cloak close range hopefully when I’ve got good positioning without being seen so I can fire on them close range but I try to do it without moving. The closer you are the harder it is for them to track projectiles because of the reduced time they have to see trailing animations on the projectiles.
PC snipers though are a pain cause they generally perch and scan the area the whole time. I’m not sure what it’d do to balance but I kind of wish you could at least see the FT’s weapons in the lobby so you could adjust your tactics for the team you might be facing.
ahahahahahahahhaa it’s not the graphic setting man, you can’t see the the predator when he is standing still and clock in any settings. It’s just you probabily were doing some sounds or shooting some bullets of pistol or some arrows.
I’ve heard this from multiple people that have had the same experience now, so I don’t think so man. Also I wasn’t shooting at all, I had been trapping and idling at the camp since I found the objective.
Thanks for the reply though.
When i play as Fireteam and i suspect that there is a Predator on, let’s say a branch, since i’ve heard clicking noise or whatever, then i normally shoot a couple of rounds to try expose the Predator, if i hit then blood will be shown and i can spot the Predator.
Searching with bullets is the best tactic, the Predator is invisible that doesn’t mean the FT players aren’t capable of deduction.
Fought a completely invisible Pred for a whole match, it was much harder but not impossible. Granted everyone else died.
