Like four hundred, maybe 500 hundred years ago. Viking, Valk and Cleo have to be older than that if they knew about and interacted with the cultures of Earth that they inspired or were inspired by.

So like…800+ years bare minimum. Regardless there is too much changing things going on.

Still it fits the yatujas tho, think about it tho lol, they were sent on yatuja prime to be test subjects and grow and develop, they became hunters and kept getting smarter tho, it basically literally added a really cool fitting existance origin story to the previous franchise and future ones… none of them contradicts any of actual pred movies, so in general it just makes up a really detailed and defined origin and species knowledge

Another thing is, never did avp try and degrade predator, like it went along side with original lore very well, in avp 1 and 2 they both die in a memorable way with dignity and courage.

Why though?

Why would they still be chucking spears if they’re capable of nanomachines on their own?
Why would they care about losing tech if they can just make spaceships on their own like they’re cars?

general assumption for a long time was that they either scavenged this stuff, pillaged it from another race, or they have slaves

It was never defined what they do tho cause original amengi concept was scrapped lol… that left a huge whole to fans to wonder about yatuja origin lol, like they must have evolved from something like humans did… like in first predator we found out there were multiple sightings of them and they come while weathers are hot and stuff and they hunt people for sport, which kinda did not uncover us with much, mainly in predators 2010 it kinda followed up with avp 1 and 2

They are literally self destructing themselves if they lose to not leave any traces of them selves behind such as DNA or Tech, reason for that is they dont want their species being reverse engineered like they do it them selves, they do it so they will stay superior.

Its also said in original lore that they literally have a live feed of their hunt broadcasted to the mother ship and for them to analyze and evolve lol

Their stuff isn’t particularly hard to decipher or reverse engineer because its all designed in DUMMY MODE for these preds.
Isabelle deciphered everything (in a matter of weeks?) and piloted a ship back to earth, a 12 year old boy deciphered their language.

They are not advanced, they’re a primitive species. Their tech is advanced however which is why they hold it above all else. The techs all designed for ease of use. They can’t figure out how to make thermal adapt to fire onscreen blurring their vision lol.

Thats not what i meant tho, they dont want to leave any traces of their planet material or tech material or how their tech works, same with the prey that has seen them they eliminate them, the unarmed people who see the yatuja lets take for example that boy in graveyard scene in pred 2, he was not killed cause he was not a threat and nobody would believe him and he has no actual proof of existance or data.

They are actually advanced species not primitive anymore, based on avp lore the one with engineers, they begun as primitive beings and then evolved their was into mayan type or culture and living and hunting.

They did trial and error sort of thing where they tested and adapted to worthy opponents barebacl with any equipment and then they adjusted their tech pieces according to their toughest opponents trough out the universes.

Then we fast forward to like original pred which technically happens after avp 1 story telling scene where the guy magically deciphers dead language as well… that right there is poor writting same with isabelle deciphering the yatuja language, and dont get me started with the predator 2018 kid, that right there is a full on attack on me cause i was born with savant syndrome, which technically allows me a very advance understanding of music and seeing notes and other shit that is irrelevant to this… but its basically very insulting towards me or anyone who was born with autism.

We have overwhelming existence of preds in this game. We’re not even impressed with their stuff or dragging in a dead body anymore.

Tbh predator lore is just going to be dutch’s team w/ isabelle and royce running around killing preds at this point.

avp is a seperate canon.

So lets recap.

Avp 1 story says thes were once primitive beings that evolved into advance civ and kept getting more smarter.

Fast forward to original pred movie with arnold ofc the one and only, jungle hunter was the first example of their advanced civ and evolution.

Then we go to pred 2 u see better hud and weapons.

Then we go back to avp 1 and 2 that goes along side with yatuja civilization development and the predators 2010 movie as well… so all in all, avp basically even if its a canon it just fits perfectly original lore and nicely explains it

Ok i lay my facts that amengi is trash concept that was a right decision to not be taken as an actual lore and concept art and everything.

This game is trash for trying to bring back amengi concept which actually makes no actual sense to previous original lores not including avp btw.

Even based on pred 1 2 and 3 which is preds 2010, it literally kills everything the movies stand for and their lores.

Now I haven’t listened to the tapes yet. I’m waiting for a friend to get free and discuss them together. So I don’t know what Illfonic makes canon.

However, I do know that the current canon doesn’t discuss their tech creation, and going into the comics and books has the same issue as everything else this game made canon. The extended lore is contradictory. I’ve had many long discussions among friends about the tech. Its all been speculation, using comics as guidelines rather than strict lore, because you can always find something contradictory in the extended lore. The movies give barely a hint as to what their world is like.

And, in dealing with the various canons, it has to be specified which canon you’re talking about. Basically, while AVP canon is not Predator canon, you can use one to infer about the other unless their canon disagrees with the inference.

I think what makes this a dumb retcon is that it’s talking down the threat. “Don’t worry folks the Predators aren’t really a threat, the guys who make the tech are.”

Which is basically just inviting someone to write an OC and try to one up the title monster. Not to mention that this goes against literally everything about societies where you’ll have individuals who specialize in things like medicine, engineering, or language. Cultures develop and you end up with a variety of people learning how to do various things in various fields.

But in comes Illfonic to insinuate that they have absolutely no idea how any of the tech works let alone build it. BULLSHIT.

I can buy that not everyone can repair a mask. That makes sense to reality where not everyone can build a house or is great at cooking. Not everyone can fix electronics. But the entire fucking culture? I can buy that the basis of the technology is from somewhere else. That’s why the Alpha retcon was fine since they adapted that technology to fit their needs. But don’t insinuate the race is a bunch of single braincelled morons. It goes against the solo and crossover series even ignoring the EU.

What did the Predators force the Amengi to build pyramids? Did the Predators really need the Amengi to figure out how to use a knife? Do you mean to tell me that the species that can traverse the stars and open worm holes are a bunch of smooth brained retards?

Not that different from brutes from Halo

Traversing the stars isn’t much of an achievement if you’re uplifted by another race and they’re making mass produced stuff for you to trade around that’s all piss easy to use.
Having both spears and spaceships doesn’t add up. I can buy they can melt down metals and forge stuff, but not the nanomachines. Some of the stuff is clearly coming from elsewhere, gene mods and drones too.

If we discuss pred economics the emphasis on their whole culture being stuck trying to becoming elite hunters to get cool stuff since there’s no way they can build it themselves or have that kind of knowledge passed down - assuming theres some kind of highly concentrated slave&salvage trade at the heart of their society keeping that culture extremely strict it makes some sense

I don’t hate the retcon but I didn’t care for the klingon lore they had in the EU to begin with. It was an extremely flimsy way of trying to explain the massive technological gap between a stick and a spaceship if they have scientists with this stuff readily available. Why would there still be preds forging sticks of they can pass down knowledge of how to make a rocket launcher?
A lot of their more advanced stuff has GLARING technical weaknesses too and they just use it till it breaks, discard most of it (rest probably gets melted down into an axe) and hopefully they go get a better one once they get home. Cloak doesn’t function in water, how fragile the casters are, one-use items, the predator killer suit malfunctioning. They are experimenting with new fragile toys each hunting season, aside from the stuff they seem to forge themselves which seems more reliable.
