I don’t understand why people are hating on this movie, especially when like half of the “bad parts” they speak off is nonsense. Yeah Dek is smaller, yeah he’s not going to win every fight he runs into because he’s still inexperienced…and they clearly show it. He was hellbent on revenge and that clouded his mind into thinking he could just push his way through everything and he’s punished for that, something (at least from what I’ve seen in other pred media) that we’ve seen before so why is it bad now? Is it the fact that this time around a predator isn’t seen as some stone cold killer that hurts the edgy fans? And for the “female that was always saving him”…yall it was twice, where he literally would’ve died if she didn’t, other than that he was overcoming most of the problems on his own and adapting, something a new warrior would be doing. And for Dek not killing the Kalisk and “taming” the baby one…it’s not the first time Yautja have tamed other species, it’s not a big deal this time around either
I feel like some of yall are just butt hurt that this movie somehow hurt y’all’s fragile masculinity, but all in all the movie was great imo, glad to see that we’re finally expanding more on the franchise on the big screen rather than some “group sees pred, most of group dies, one man survives and wins” that we’ve seen in most of the other movies.

The problem is that he’s smaller, inexperienced, and not too bright. It’s not like he’s cunning, or clever, or smart, or anything to make up for his physical deficiencies. There is no reason he survived long enough to be sentenced to death for being a runt. And even though he’s rushing headlong into every fight, which has never been the Predator way, when he inevitably loses, its fine, something always bails him out and he benefits from it. There is no time he comes out worse than he started except losing his brother. Hell, even being captured immediately puts him on a path with a goal for his eventual trophy. And he’s not a stone cold killer because he’s barely a killer. On that death world, he kills one living thing bigger than an insect. One. The female robot saved him more times than he killed things. He had the Arnie montage from the first movie, going back to nature for his final fight, and then didn’t even do anything impressive with it because the xp he was passively gaining while other people around him were doing the killing, he was saving up to put into dueling, not stalking. And he didn’t tame Bud, he befriended Bud, became part of Bud’s clan. Its not a master/pet relationship (which when given the opportunity to justify the help Bud gave, he wasn’t smart enough to think of that).
And I keep saying this over and over, the idea could have been fine, if the writing was at the very least competent. You could have given us a movie, where the weakest child of a great hunter must prove himself and he bites off more than he can chew. You could have it be mostly dialogueless, or at the very least, subtitleless. You can have a film where he adapts to his shortcomings, or becomes most unconventional, or even giving up the hunting life entirely, accepting his own weaknesses and choosing a life better suited for him. But what did we get? A grand monster no predator has ever slain easily killed by common predator gear, and a runt who never won a duel in his life win a 2v1 and then proceed to beat his own father (who is shown to use dishonour and his own incredible skill to win) without any practice in dueling. Just have standards.
Well said, i mentioned the thing about him barely killing anything and how thias legs have a higher kill count than dek did shit was a subtle way of saying GIIIIRRRLLLLL POOOWWWEERRRR YAAAAASSS QUREEEN. Hes surrounded by all women who apparently have to save him multiple times and get the glory kills while deks along for the ride. But according to ppl like this guy “your masculinity was hurt” and thas why some of us didnt like it not because it was bad writing and the disney ing of predator none of that is possible its deeper than that…in thier eyes lol

If you felt personally targeted by my post then you’re not giving yourself much to stand on. I’d like to point out that a lot of you guys are hating on the movie because what…there’s women in it? Big deal? And yes I said “group goes in, pred kills most of them, one man survives and wins” because that’s literally what they started doing for the movies post predator 2, hell that’s still even relatively used in some ways in comics as well. I say fragile masculinity because when I read the replies I see more about everyone’s hate towards the women or Dek not being “strong” yet I quite literally cannot fathom the hate behind something that irrelevant or in all honesty, something that’s not even there? You see a yautja start off weak and gain its warrior status while also gaining help from a crossover character who just so happens to be female and instantly resort to “Oh they’re trying to force women protags down our throats and sideline the buff manliness” which literally never happens in the movie? also nowhere did I point out racism which is a weird example to bring out to a franchise based on an alien species.
I wouldn’t be saying all of these things for nothing, it’s literally how most of yall display yourselves on social media that gives the franchise a more sour look than the movie itself. Yeah you can have your own opinion on the movie, but when you nitpick things by so called “deep diving” the movie to conform to your own personal beliefs it just sounds idiotic no offense. See I like your argument far better than the other cause I can actually understand where you’re coming from. First I’d like to point out that yes, predators have displayed rushing into a fight, in most movies that’s how (at least in my eyes) the main protagonist gains the upper hand on them and “outsmarting” them. I know the people like Pred 1 and 2 so I’ll keep my opinion on how the preds lost their fights in those ones, but going forward Preds and forward, each Pred died by the failure of their own “ego”, which Dek failed in his own right in the new one. Another thing I don’t understand, and correct me if I’m wrong, but Dek even through his failures of fighting still shows some if not an increasing amount of proficiency through the movie, even his fight with the Kalisk he was learning as he fought, and during the whole montage + final stretch of the movie, he was doing nothing but winning? I think the one of the failures to the movie was the run time, and I saw that while watching the movie, it felt as if they were trying to explore on Dek’s trying to learn to survive but with the runtime of just under 2 hours it wasn’t easy to expand on that and maybe that’s why it feels to rushed. With the synthetics on the other hand, I also do feel like they were trying to display Waylontech as a “superior” company without giving much background and that’s another flaw but for others just saying it’s the women problem I find weird. I do appreciate you for having a more explanatory response than name calling back at me lol

Lets have a look at that. ‘rush into a fight’ thought by going through each movie when the protag gains the upper hand. Predator, sneaks passed arnie and gets surprised. 2, gets ambushed when its about to eat and chased down. AV, unique from the rest of the films, doesn’t have that final fight with a human. Requiem, only stalked humans because the xenomorphs can’t be hidden from. S, trapped their camp. The, You’re right, the upgrade predator just kind of walked into danger. Prey, he somehow didn’t see Naru turn invisible in front of him and was surprised. KoK, the humans rushed Grendel. So if ‘The Predator’ is your reference for Badlands, you’re in a bad position already.
If you want to go by how they lost: Predator, he was killed by the counterweight of a trap, not the trap itself, Arnie didn’t plan that. 2, after being surprised that his feeding ground was invaded, he was on the backfoot when Danny appeared and never really got back in control of the fight. AV, I’d put forward that they were outclassed rather than arrogant. Requiem, Wolf got nuked. S, I’ll grant you ego, but Predators isn’t as great as people say, it superficially resembling the first movie carrying it. The, ego all the way, but its the worst movie in the franchise bar none. Prey, feral just stared at his death, not ego, just dumb. KoK, I wouldn’t say ego, but with how light it is, if you present a good argument, I might agree. Once again, if The Predator is the closest, you’re in a bad spot.
Dek doesn’t show an increasing amount of fighting skill. First, you need to separate fighting monsters with fighting human sized prey with weapons. Those are two entirely different skills, so even if he was getting better from vines, to rhinos, to tree traps, to Kalisk, that won’t help him parry a sword coming at him. He loses to his brother, he struggles with more than one synthetic, then obliterates three predators in a row. Like I said before, its feels like a game, where he bought dueling upgrades from the XP he got from the monster fights.
Don’t get me started on the run time. It felt like it was three hours long, and it was only ninety minutes? You don’t need more time, you need better spent time. Dan’s not good at writing, that’s the issue.
And the women comments are because its a modern media trend. Emasculate the male, to show how awesome the females are. Dek is the only male on the planet. Everything animal he comes across is female, and the male synths have no personality, unlike the female synths, so they don’t count as male because they could be skinless and perform the same. Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Terminator, the list goes on. So the complaints are because its a tiring trend. The reason for the complaints truly stems from the shitty writing in these. If these movies were written by people with brains, I don’t think the complaints would happen. “Everything, Everywhere, All at Once” is a tightly written story, where the women can show off how cool they are and the men are kind of shown to be weak, and no one complained about it, because it was good. It comes back to another thing I’ve been saying: people rarely attribute writing as the problem. When something is bad, people will point to superficial things, like cgi, or women, or whatever as an excuse. Its easier than sitting down and putting together the movie’s problems.

I’ll state it here, me personally idc what your opinion on the movie is, if you bring up a good argument like Fossil then yeah it’s easier to understand. What I don’t understand is why some of the people classed as “haters” of the movies show their hate towards like…the real down to nitpicking parts of the movie that just doesn’t make sense, and it won’t make more sense if you just go “Oh the woman is showed to be stronger which makes the movie bad because it’s emasculating the man of the movie” unfortunately if a writer wants to portray a character differently than how it’s usually shown in the idea they create, it’s a thing we have to deal with, if you choose to see it in a bad light, that’s you and I can’t judge you for that. But on the other hand, choosing to hate on another gender, race, yada whatever because of it only shows more character about you than it does the person “defending” it. Like I said before, I say fragile masculinity not because of you not liking the movie, it’s the nitpicking against women of all things and it’s what I see from what those show reacting to it, if you or anybody else takes it to heart, clearly I’m correct in some way.
