The Illfonic Appreciation Post
Hello Everyone.
I wanted to take some time and put out an appreciation thread. as it stands we know to some extent from leaks that illfonic are working on maps and new gamemodes. I feel that we spend so much time here complaining about the things that went wrong, that we havent properly commended the team for the things they have done well.
As such this post is really made for positive feedback and I would greatly appreciate if we kept the replies to it as such. Thank you.
Im going to go in troves. Obviously I have no idea of the company structure but ill try my best to compartmentalize this post so that our mods can send appreciations to the proper places. I apologize if I missed your teams, I really did try to bunch everything up together enough that this doesn’t turn into the length of my rework guide lol!
@Courier @OldKingHamlet This one is for you guys.
Moderators:
As you all well know, Courier and OldKingHamlet are our moderators. They are in charge of keeping the forums from breaking out in wars, as well as pushing forth our ideas to the devs so that they can incorporate them as they see fit.
First I want to say that they do a fantastic job at moderating. I have seen lots of really out of control arguments as well as users be shut down properly, fairly, and calmly. Ive seen both of you defuse literal bombs of situations, But most of all I respect the hell out of how you dish out punishments. I have only seen a single permaban. Otherwise you guys have resorted to warnings, temporary bans, and longer temporary bans. Thats a very tasteful form of moderation.
Second thing I want to say is the feedback you guys give. I see you guys answering questions where possible, and on top of that, I have seen our ideas come into the game. (And no, this is not about the recognition of my rework, though its appreciated). You see, one or two months into the games lifespan, amongst the nerf this buff that posts, there was a post about giving status effects to weapons. I dont remember the author, as I had assimilated that idea into my rework, and it was a long time ago and the author im pretty sure hasnt been on in months. But still. The point is, the third month in I believe we got status effects for preds melee weapons. Thats an idea that, at least as far as I can tell, came from here. From us. And im certain that many more will come from us as time goes on. And I thank you guys for passing said ideas onto the proper channels.
You guys are awesome.
Graphic Design Team:
Oh boy this is gonna be a short but sweet one. Now dont get me wrong, I have to play on low graphics because of my potato, but every once in a while I just have to crank those graphics up for a few matches and suffer the fps drops for the beauty this game has to offer.
Everything from enemy design, to the environments, and our beautiful character models and shaders and all the customizations. Hell even the UI is wonderful.
But theres something else I wanted to bring up. I recently started playing again and maybe im just crazy but you guys definitely did something with the lighting, because colors pop really damn hard now, its crazy how vibrant this game looks now, its awesome.
The people who work on character models deserve a bit of extra praise. On the highest graphics both the Arnies look really damn good, and dont get me started on some of the predator faces. Absolutely amazing.
And oh boy we gotta talk about the weapons. Every single weapon in this game looks amazing. But I have to commend the one and only in particular, the mercenary. This has to be the single best rendition of an m16 with a grenade launcher I have ever seen. The iron sights are crisp, the textures are amazing, and the way it looks in the viewmodel is quite honestly perfect. You guys did amazing work there.
Good job guys. The game looks great imo.
Sound Design Team:
This is an edit because I completely forgot about you guys, my bad. But here you are:
So sound design. I just wanna say first of all, I remember the first time I booted up the game, and my ears were graced by the absolutely stunning rendition of the OG predator soundtrack for this game. I literally loved that theme so much I listened to it on a loop for the first week until I got so tired of it I had to mute the in game music because it was giving me a headache. It was that good.
Now lets talk about actual sounds in game. Ambience is a big thing in a game like this, and I really love how you guys did it. The ambient noises of the jungle, Are calming, and really well done, but best of all, they arent overbearing at all. they are like a white noise, so much so I forget they are there half the time. Its immersive in the best way, I love how seamless it is.
Moving on to noises. Holy shit I love the sounds in this game. Pretty much all of predators sounds are great. (I may not like exactly how they are implemented from a balance perspective, but they are still excellently done). This game does a hell of a lot to immerse the player and a big part of that is each and every sound in this game. Good work guys. Seriously.
Programming team / Game Design Team:
Okay ill be honest im struggling a bit on this one. The game could be in a better state. but I feel like thats because you guys are the team thats just all over the place, having to create framework for everything else and not really being able to crank it all out at once, and thats okay.
Still, you do deserve praise. I think of all the teams you are most likely the ones with the most constant work across the board. And though for a AAA title obviously the rate of ironing out is slow (which is mostly the reason there is so much backlash) I feel like you guys are doing actually really excellently for a AA studio. Seriously, this game is right on the border of AAA status I feel, And Im certain one day its gonna get there, and while thats a team effort, its you guys that are creating the framework for all of that other work to rest upon. Thats no easy task, and I commend you for doing as well as you did, especially since this game is sitting on really… well Uncharted territory? The only thing that came close to being similar is evolve and that game died. Yet you guys still ventured into the unknown and did an arguably far better job. Its been rough, sure. But I really do have faith in you guys. Thats why ive been here since the beginning, and ill do my best to be here till the end.
And side note. I appreciate the consistency with updates. Slow and steady wins the race tbh, and while things are slow at times, you are very damn steady so that keeps me and im sure the rest of the community invested. It shows you guys havent given up so we shouldnt either.
Closing:
Now I would like to push on the praise to the rest of the community in the replies, and hopefully they have even more to say than I do.
Otherwise, Have a great day, and hell a great rest of the development of this game.
-Much love from lazy <3
