And how they handle mentally ill people is atrocious.

Not all cops are good or bad.

Some officers are women :(

Police officer might be the most underrated profession.
Every other profession are allowed to make mistakes and nobody cares. Police officers make one single mistake, they’re screwed.
People tend to forget (or ignore) that below the uniform there’s a human being like everyone else.

Honestly yeah especially in certain situations a single mistake can have the consequence of a life lost

These are the type of MFs to come up to you when you’re talking to some random lady in a bar and say “SHE’S NOT INTERESTED”. But yeah, you’ve got a better likelihood of escaping whatever situation you’re in if you fall foul of the law, just cooperate so they don’t throw an extra ‘assaulting-an-officer’ on your list of charges. Usually, a bit of preparation and persuasion before court can get ya out of most sentences. I’ve only gone to prison twice, and the longest stint was for 6 months (cause I didn’t wanna pay bail, for some reason. I was obviously drunk at the time I decided that lol)

It also pays to know and be on good terms with your local law enforcement, but this is really mostly feasible in a small township area or unless your family has preexisting connections to the police. I had both.

During a car accident that was the other drivers fault (ran a red light and clipped us, nobody was hurt), the first responding officer was said family friend and spent a few minutes after taking our statement joking around with us. Before promptly taking the statement and chewing out the skinny little 17 year old fuck who’d done the same thing twice before, and if I recall right that kid lost his license.

Now that I live in the city I have to be a lot more careful since I have no connection or way to get on good terms with the cops, so my days of Gus Fring-esque hiding in plain sight are over until I move back to my home.

yea I remember in middle school I rode the bus since school was like across town from me. I had to cross the street to board the bus, and there was always some idiot who decided to ignore the bus’s stop sign and there was always this one cop who would sneaky snook his way into some little connecting street, and if I recall he pulled over every person who tried to flatten me when I was crossing the street. Loved that dude, he’s a family friend now
