It is and it’s wrong. because unlike a regular PvP shooter, this is a 4 vs 1 scenario and on top of that, the two sides are using completely different types of projectiles.

yeah it cannot simulate the feeling of the 1st movie simply because humans in this game are prepared to engage with predators having even reverse engineered their tech.

And this is why it doesnt work as a regular shooter.
You can’t have 4 vs 1, if the predator player has no technological advantage over the FT, other than going invisible (which with so many indications is useless) and being able to leap high and far.

Gadgets aside (both sides have similar sensors & decoys), it’s literally 4 people with advanced weapons, against 1 person with primitive weapons (with the only exception being the plasma cannon and pistol).

I ve been thinking about this.
how this game cannot recreate the feeling of the 1st movie, and its mainly due to two reasons.

  1. The players know what this game is about. They cannot be surprised by an “unknown” enemy like what we see Dutch’s team experience in the movie and
  2. In this timeline humans have known about the Predators for decades and have reverse engineered their tech and have basically declared war between species.

The only way to have an authentic predator experience (which is impossible imo) is if different video game companies secretely organized special events, where on completely random moments players could play as the predator in other franchises.
So basically imagine playing a mission on Battlefield and as you re doing a mission a predator starts attacking you.

But even that wouldn’t be close to experiencing the 1st movie, cause people would recognize the character and laugh about it, rather than feeling scared.

And after it happened once then everyone in that franchise would be ready for that so it would totally lose the element of surprise…

Its very easy to make this Game feel like the movies!

Change the time limit to 10 mins!

Obj must be done and then after the 10 mins are up the chopper location is marked and you have a extra 1min30 to get to the chopper before it leaves!

Sure this might induce camping by the ft after the mission is done but it also on the 3 other maps other than the cave of hell map (seriously who thought a huge cave was a good idea)

This would change the flow of the game drastically due to the Predator’s ability to now apply pressure while staying “hidden” and safe at first to pick and prod the ft while they do the mission! Then after the Mission is finished its like the “movie” the Ft are just trying to survive till the time is up!!

Sure you can still hunt the Predator and kill it and win but now the Predator has options due to the mission and the timer to be run out before chopper shows up!

Those 2 extra minutes will be felt in the waiting queue though.

That’s not because it’s an action game though, that’s just poor game design.

And the plasma is still slower than bullets.

This is like wizardry vs guns.

Pred is ultimately just chucking sticks at the end of the day its an ambush hunter. once you know what you’re up against and they start getting hit its just a big guy in a tree.

Doesnt need to be a surprise people need to actually worry about dying instead of just staring at their health bar and poping a syringe the second they dip below a low threshhold.

You end up more worried about health micro management than the pred.
There are so many second chances that you’re just counting remaining heals.

Hunt:Showdown is a better pred game thematically lol. Even though you know there are players lurking somewhere its still a surprise when you walk into someones barb wire trap molotov house of horrors SAW movie. A well-equipped solo player can home-alone a group of three players and that’s a constant threat. This is why people play stealthy in Hunt instead of making themselves easy targets, that and they lose that specific character and his RNG perks if he dies. You have to introduce risk management if you want people to care about stealth but its still perfectly viable to create an authentic stealth experience in a multiplayer game.

Pred is just counting and trading health.
