I get what you’re saying about the wrong people still being able to get them - because it’s a very natural reaction. But all I can say is that people had the same feelings here when our gun laws were being introduced, and the proof is in the pudding.
I’m not saying it would need to be as strict as ours but surely there’s a legitimate need to stop the crazies from getting their hands on a gun??

Legal guns aren’t the problem. Canada has strict gun laws and we still have gun crime over here.
Criminals will always have access to guns illegally. By introducing gun control laws, all you’re doing is making civilians more vulnerable because they won’t be able to defend themselves.
Places in the US that allow people to carry guns legally are far more safer than the places that don’t. Also look at countries like Mexico and Brazil, crime skyrocketed after the governments took the guns away from regular civilians.
