This game will be dead within 6 months

That’s not a bad thing per say, many games last less than that.

Here are my impressions from playing almost non stop since release, minus the last few days…

For clarity, I have played the Predator twice and am now level 75…

People who play the Predator think they should be uber, be able to charge in and destroy, or stealth from the trees and never be seen, or put down a trap which cuts peoples legs off… yes, all great in a movie, but it doesnt work so well in a game

If a Predator player gets gunned down… it’s not there fault for being in the open too long, it’s because the FT is OP

If a Predator gets spotted in the tree’s (I have literally heard them say “how the eff did you see me”) even though they didnt have a cloak on at the time, they are in the trees and not moving, (without cloak on) you shouldn’t see me coming

I have been killed by Berserkers with combistick more times than I can count, they arent doing anything special, just charging in with combistick and mashing their melee attack over and over and taking out all 4 FT members

The only way to stop it is with melee (parries), which has now been nerfed, even though from my experience it wasnt a direct counter. Yeah, I would counter a couple of hits, and if my entire fire team was firing at the Pred he would back off and use up a heal. IF he was attacking me, if not, and my teammate who dont know the only way to counter the melee zerg is to use melee, he is screwed as the Pred beats him down with his stick… if you become the last FT member against the Pred you are screwed.

Also, I have been taken out with more than a few times by Preds who dont use Zerker with a combistick, I have been one shot by plasma charger many times, and respect to those Predators.

And there lies the problem, most games are filled with pugs, a well organised Fire Team with group chat probably will take down that predator, but those without wont. I give this game less than 6 months before it’s dead, as the last patch seemed to only cater to those who believe the Predator should be able to charge in and kill a bunch of humans, because he’s a Predator and the movie dictates it.

Btw, in the movie, the Predator never engages in hand to hand combat once, until the end as a sign of respect. He picks people off with the element of surprise one by one. Also, about 3 bullets would actually kill the Predator (using movie mythology) not like Berserker tanks that can tank 100+ hits

I don’t think so if they add more maps, game modes and skins from the movies. The game is fun.

Yeah I don’t envy the devs for having to cater to the different factions. I think the changes were good but people get married to a play style and dispair when they lose the crutches. The devs need the two most effective weapons slightly and pred people act as if they just turned into petrified shit. Meanwhile FT are upset about the grenade launcher which was a hard counter to melee. So now melee is more skilled and deliberate and range is chip damage and repositioning. I’m still going to use my knife when I see preds rushing and I’m still going to use my plasma caster and comb stick. I just have to pick my fights more. The skill gaps are a problem and indeed could be an issue. I think the best thing the devs can do is post some guides or success videos showing the flexibility and skill ceiling.

In this case, please, don’t talk about balance. Play some games as a Predator (like 20-30) and tell us that everything is nice. Play with different Predator classes. Thank you.

P.S. If Berserker kills all of your team just using only combistick… well, your team is terrible. You can’t even keep distance from each other when he engages? And use grenades/miniguns? Rly?

P.P.S. The problem of the Fireteam is that you don’t want to get it - you are not single marines, you’re a team. If 3 of you will die and only 1 complete the mission - it’s your victory. And you want to be able to deal with full hp Zerker in 1v1?

I’m so disappointed after the patch. But I still have Hope for this game.

Illfonic is so Lost!!

They are letting It bleed till death. They could have fixed It today so we can recommend to our friends. But they Just fixed some small holes in gameplay, while opening even more existing ones.

Im afraid this game might be facing its end soon. But I hope there’s still time.

In the movie the Predator was almost invisible and quiet as ninja. He also didn’t lose his camouflage even when made a melee attack. He also was able to kill a human with 1 hit.

6 Months lol… I would give it week with these huge balance changes they making. They nerf health and ammo in the map and they nerfed health and ammo gear AT THE SAMETIME??? Always a bad sign when they make giant changes instead of smaller ones.

Health was way out of wack. Ammo not so much but it does add complexity and the need for better load out management across the fire team. What’s the worst that happens you die, get reinforced, and come back fully kitted. I guess I’ll wait to see how it plays out but I’m excited to finally have a challenge as the FT.

I would agree, and those need a buff, butbthe melee side needs nerfing.

I would argue the camouflage one though, even in the film.they could see him when stationary, it was just more difficult

This game wont die as long as there are fans of the series. There are so few Predator games out there to play, the ones i played before is dead. AVP2 died in 2007-09, the 2010 AVP died in just a year or so, if i remember correctly. Correct me if im wrong.

But this game offers alot of fun and tactical thinking. I for one like to use my brain to get my IQ up a little, lol. So as long as Illfonic actually supports the game, i have faith. Just stick with it, have fun. Number one tip from me would be to stop caring about rank all the time, play to have fun. You win, good for you. You die? You failed, but you will be stronger for it. Get some mates, ill assure you, youll have a great time playing.

The player base is very different to 15+ years ago, for one outside of PC there wasnt an abundance of FPS game to choose from.

It will die, and quickly if they cant figure out how to balance it.

And most of the problem is those who love the film (dont get me wrong, it was a great film) as you cant balance a game around it.

Most people want a pick up and play game these says (again different to 15+ years ago) which means they wont be in an organised team, they will get fed up of being stumped and move on (quickly)

Just run away from him, lol. If the berserker is your problem, RUN away from it. Literally everyone who plays for FT can simply land on the ground, jumping non-stop and inserting syringes into himself, even from the scout, to say nothing of the berserk.
