Tips For New Predators

So it’s something I see on here A LOT where Predator Mains or New Aspiring Predator Mains are saying that the FT is OP or unfairly balanced. now balancing has always been an issue in this game since day one, and like a pendulum it will swing back and forth inevitably in the favor of one or the other, but I feel alot of the time that is only a small part of why Predators get melted or blown to bits; and that the real culprit is actually a lack of knowledge of gameplay mechanics and Tactical Fau Paus that even a decent/mediocre FT will end you for(even more so if you run into a really experienced or Premade FT)

SO I thought it might be good to create a topic where we could share knowledge and tactics between veterans and newbies to try and keep the experience fun overall because I mean that’s why we are here right? To have fun playing a Game with Predators 👍.

P.s. while I know its inevitable please try to keep it positive guys/girls Obviously there is a learning curve and a certain amount of skill involved as well as some Tactics will not pan out for everyone but at the very least I hope this can be a place for asking questions and trading of gameplay knowledge.

Now as for my initial contribution to this topic as obvious as it may seem to be to most here are(as based on my experience as I play both sides) 3 main tips for newbie Preds that are VITAL to not getting crushed under a FT Boot.

  1. BE PATIENT, reckless aggression is the same as putting a big stomp me sign over your head and doing the hula, the FT can stack damage on you QUICK and if they are hunting YOU then your doing their job for them.

  2. USE YOUR HEAD, pay attention to your surroundings and start making mental maps of the areas, try to plan out the best vantage points in which to stalk/attack from and the paths of least resistence to get to and from them(everything is this game can be an obstacle and nothing gets you melted faster than shooting straight up in the air or getting stuck while retreating or repositioning)

  3. UTILIZE ALL OF YOUR TOOLS, The Predator has many different tools at his disposal even at level 1 that are invaluable to success on the Hunt. The obvious ones being his cloak and mask and great maneuverability but some that people overlook or don’t pay as much attention to like the minimap(which is SO useful), once you tag a FTM they will show up in the mini map in relation to you which can help you keep track of them even if they are not in your direct line of sight; and if you mark them with a motion detector the mini map will also show you what direction they are facing to help you plan your moment to strike unseen. Another one is the Vocal Mimcry now this tool is circumstantial and takes a little practice to use properly BUT on more than one occasion I’ve been able to use it to trick a FTM into stopping or turning around for me to nail him with an arrow or PC shot ECT.(obviously this will not work on those that have mics, as they talk normally to each other).

Now these are pretty basic but I hope they help and of course I hope some of you post more Tactics and ask questions in this topic so we can get some good stuff going in here. 😎👍

Additional tip, prioritize boars over health kits. Not only are they full heals but can be killed and left for later, just check on the map to find them. But be sure to attack them with wristblades while cloaked to one shot them before they run away

Kill pigs whenever you see them. Even if you have to go out of your way

Avoid second wind at all costs

Utilize plasma caster before you engage in melee

Watch for red barrels

Leap minimally when in second wind

Keep moving

I mean the fact that an FT player with the right buffs can 4-shot a hunter… doesnt negate the fact that it takes a pred 5 hits to kill an assault with wristblades…

Combi 1-2 hits into throw kills anyone but support with thick skin

If you see a FT member alone, be careful. The others could be hiding nearby. Make sure you have multiple exit plans. When you down them, just start attacking the body. If their teammates come out, you’re not locked into an animation so you can leap away. If you want to take the risk of quick claiming, you can, but you’ll lose a LOT of health at the minimum. Do not long claim. Just don’t. The animation takes too long in this situation (even canceling it takes a while here).

If you see someone in a building with only one exit, DO NOT go in unless you know the others are dead. If they’re still alive and you do go in, they will block the door and just shoot at you until you’re dead.

Theres a lot of situation specific variables.

But I think the most important tip of all is-
Breathe.

Stay calm.
Dont let your nerves or anxiety overwhelm you.
This is something a lot of people struggle with.

And honestly? This can be applied to almost anything in life.

If you can keep yourself from freaking out, trust me itl help you out a lot.

You could just caster with down range and win that way, I just prefer melee

Have you tried hit and run tactics? With my Scout I’ll shoot them from behind with a bow, leap over them while they turn get 2 quick wristblade swipes in then leap to a pre planned vantage point and down them with another arrow or throw a disc(as I have been practicing ALOT with it lately and am finally not complete shit with it)
But at this point in this game trying to beat down a FTM with Wristblades Alone is not recommended.

Edit: also I usually use /\ tactic on one maybe 2 FTM do not try this on a group of 3 or 4 in close proximity, especially not with scout.

Yep ive tried hit and run tactics… Im also part of a premade FT that stopped counting after our 104 win streak. Like seriously, we’ve left the game it got that boring.

We got bored counting and just left it at 104. The game is a joke and then when people come along and try to defend this mess… welll… Fucking shit… this is why the game is gonna die.

Pro Tip: Bear Traps at Chopper extraction point, Pigs, don’t use the trees use the bushes to hit and run tactics, be fast and watch your stamina because Gosh forbid Predators have to be nerffed because FT players want this game to be like COD so they can T-Bag a Predator after 1v1

This is not in the picture anymore btw. FYI

Yes but not every FT you come up against can and will do that, and in the beginning when learning the game patience is key to familiarize yourself with the game. Rushing into the fight in general without the experience to know what to expect is foolish, which will get you melted like ice cream in a volcano; and I think will only deter new players from wanting to spend the time to learn the game.

Nope , it’s 20 damage + 106 (with down range). So it will be 146, it doesnt kill any class since all people are running tick skin with recon and scout. Combi stuck throw got nerf without any announcement in the patch notes.

5* :FT can still melt you in one second.

Don’t get greedy. Still lose most of my matches that I lose because I push for more when I should be satisfied with what I got.
