Topic - Macros

Reproaching this age old topic after a long time, I don’t think a very good attempt has been made to really go over macros and the comments and topics alone are obviously not working because people still just don’t understand this shit

Main Topic Issues

People have no idea what a macro is

  • Lack of general knowledge and experience about game
  • Lack of comparison
  • Computer illiteracy

Arguments to cover

  • Firerates with keyboard and mouse vs console
  • Grimtech19 (IRL comparison, practically, 1011-12 vs Grimtech19, optimal builds, optimal usage)
  • Competitive Aspects
  • Definition of cheating in context to macros
  • Practicality vs Usage
  • Macro vs Macro-less
  • What is a macro?
  • Macro vs Macroless gameplay (Receiving end, attacker perspective, ally perspective)

History

Various events have shaped the general perspective and mindset of macros

Stigma

  • Playstation vs PC
  • Playstation macro users
  • PC macro users

Potential Macro List

Well at least of somewhat interest

  • Rapid Fire (Grimtech19, 1011-12 etc.) [Most Popular]
  • Fast Interact (Netgun) [Popular]
  • Turbo Knife (Fireteam)
  • Turbo Melee (Predator)
  • Instant UAV
  • Instant Mudup
  • Charged Shot Storage
  • Multi Projectile (Predator)
  • Mixed Projectile and Melee (Predator)
  • Leap Traps (Predator)
  • Multi knife + Offhand reload
  • Moonwalk
  • Field lockers
  • Illegal customization
  • Auto Parry
  • Parry Spam
  • Silent Assault Rifles (Old)

Gimmicks

I would debate that rapid fire the most popular of this topic is a gimmick but due to being an overblown topic this shit is not seen as such

  • Anti recoil (Half baked functionality)
  • Fast turn (Smart Disc)
  • Spotting

Viewpoints to consider

  • Casual
  • Radical Opposition
  • Competitive (PC/Console)
  • Uncategorized community reception

Macro: Research and Testing

Actual work that can be shown with some commentary

I made a macro to recreate this UI bug a while ago

This is a pretty solid way to show off how you’re able to use macros for bug testing and generally diverse usage of software

Instant mudup comparison for keyboard and mouse

You can basically instantly mudup by spamming the interact key, but alternatively you can use a scroll wheel so… this is somewhat redundant

Instant UAV

Probably one of the very few actual reasons to use a macro

Older patch netgun rapid interaction vs current patch

Netguns use to be able to be broken faster but currently they have a slight cooldown that prevents breaking out of the net at ridiculous speeds through interaction

Smart disc turning

Not sure why I made this, it’s something a player was accused of so I might be breathing this into existence, this basically doesn’t do anything for me because we have very strong disc users in close proximity to which I’m not putting down the utility factor of 180 degree instant turns… it just doesn’t seem logical to be upset over when the disc itself with high dpi is so destructive alone

Macro Explanation

Macro is insanely generic and I have no idea why people just haven’t straight up looked what up what the word is

It really should not be this hard

Macros are basically a set of commands, stuff like scripts could at heart be considered macros

Community Comments and General Information Debunking

Just experimenting with this idea

Player has incorrect idealization of macros

Basically this is a poor representation of macro potential

This is pretty much a whacky thing to say, technically with the way macros work with sequencing I guess you can somewhat say that but I'm going to have to say this is wrong by premise

Here's a video going over weapon switching, this is probably the most overly complicated thing possible in this game to achieve in the game and this is all done with a macro

What do those “>” mean?
Cloak > Wrist Launcher (ads + Fire)
Does that mean Cloak goes to Wrist blade then what is this (ads +fire)?

I think you need to remove the codifying language and just explain it in plain language.
CLOAK go to WRIST LAUNCHER (SHOT FIRED)
WRIST LAUNCHER (POST-FIRED) go to CLOAK
(with the help of text font variants like bold and colors)
If the line is too long on the screen space, shrink the font sizes. Otherwise, you may want to section out portions of the video to display only the available space you can budget.

Codifying increases the time for the mind to interpret (makes it too complex textually)

Every thing about macros might utilize + - ms jargon. The more its used to explain it, the more it complicates the language. unless of course you need to demonstrate the actual visuals used in that particular software.

SNAG-0061
These are the physicalities on the mouse, but when talking about and showcase IN-Game…

Use simple language in its shortest, abreviated form.

Using CODIFICATION often leads to people interpreting it as ACTUAL Codification
Using "+ - >< "codification, for those who know it, often think that it is what it means in Comp sci langauge. That was my first interpretation. “>” great than? People tend to use “> and <” as breadcrumbs but its only for things like Navigation menu items.

A few things

With this version of the game, you’re able to cloak much faster than before than what we do now

This weapon switching is backed by my knowledge of weapon switching priority, you can’t simply switch from one weapon and get the same result as another, I basically had knowledge of these priorities long before I datamined and saw the weapon switching desirability

I reformatted this sequence to mimic that of both macro actions as a skeleton but used the ingame mechanical name in the action context and it looks like this

Predator: Weapon Switch Macro Demo (Reformat)
1 Cloak
2 - (Selecting the wrist launcher) Gear: Wrist Launcher
3 - (This is firing the projectile) Aim: Fire
4 - (This is melee for the wrist launcher) Fire
5 Cloak
6 - (Selecting the plasma caster) Select Weapon: Plasma Caster
7 - (This is firing the plasma projectile) Aim: Fire
8 - (This is melee for the plasma caster) Fire
9 Cloak
10 - (This is actual ‘Melee’ hotkey that you have to bind for Predator within the settings of the game, this is usually unbound, this will cause another melee attack for the plasma caster) Melee
11 Cloak
12 - (Selecting the wrist blades) Select Weapon: Wrist Blades
13 - (This is melee attack for the wrist blades) Fire

The format of

mechanic > mechanic is old as time but I can rewrite it better had it included down, up, delay, etc.

Lately, ive been experiencing some issues with cloaking. At least a 20-50 ms delay to actually being cloaked after the button press. Are you getting that too? No macros involved with this. Just pure button click.

I also believe a strong use of CAPITALIZATION and bold could be used.
You also need to target PC Kb/m users and you can then get away with using [LMB], [RMB] in the vocab. It signifies your target audience instantly. But you are talking about macro so this Fire could be associated with anything.

Change: This is actual ‘Melee’ hotkey that you have to bind for Predator within the settings of the game, this is usually unbound, this will cause another melee attack for the plasma caster)

Simpified to : Melee hotkey bound to Predator (ingame, usually unbound) causes another melee attack after a plasma caster shot.

Holy shit, this is genuinely impressive! Such a massive wall-of-text you’d think it actually said something! I almost got excited for a minute, but then realized it’s the same recycled nothingness disguised as insight. By the way, speaking of grand plans with zero outcomes, how’s your groundbreaking P:HG modding project going? Any revolutionary progress yet?

Adding these

Netgun macro used to to be a thing, its not anymore

I made a 90 and 180 degree turn macro for smart disc

Gimmicky, smart disc is fucked so this doesn’t really bother me, the weapon itself is just silly with high DPI mouse

yeah, big point is that macros are very overblown and they think of this

that 180 degree turn would be nasty against downed ft

Looks to be inconsistent in public games
