Toxicity in matches

Since I first installed this game last year I had a weird bug where I can’t hear any mics, the mic option is enabled but after reading some complaints from people about toxicity I’m pretty happy playing without hearing anyone in the game, so it’s been pretty peaceful gaming for me so far…

It has been so seldom that someone was using his microphone in a sensible way in random matches as well as it has been seldom that when I was using my microphone that the others reacted in a sensible way (a lot of kids tend to do exactly the opposite of what you are proposing…), that I most often have my microphone off now. Maybe it indeed would also be a good idea to switch the others off by default. But the problem is: the predator can hear you too and one at least has to know, who is spamming his microphone to keep away from him as far as possible…

Wow, quite some languages, respects!

What I can say: everybody, who spoke the old Latin via the mic, was very friendly… :))

Do you consider sound boards using video game quotes as sensible?

we never get cross team chat in pvp games anymore because people just complain about having to interact with human beings.
toxic this toxic that.

trash talking is part of the game because it tilts people.

people are so sensitive that Blizzard bans for typing ggez in allchat now.

How can you tell if someone’s native language is English?

hell I live in USA and people here have very different accents. I imagine in the UK and Australia isn’t any different.

My native language is Spanish. I speak english with a heavy accent, but so do other latino friends who’s main language is English.

Is a very far fetched assumption from your part to refer to people as “native English speaking” just because they speak English, unless of course you are simply referring to the fact that they speak English, in which case it has little to do with nationality as we can all agree, even though English is not the most widely spoken language in the world in statistics, it is by far the most common 2nd language spoken by those who are bilingual.

Sorry, I did not get that - what do you mean?

Generally I do not have problems with people who just want to chit chat, it can be nice to talk with people all over the world.

But PHG is a video game where the audio plays a huge role. If you do not hear the predator being the FT, you already are dead.

If people spam their microphone through out the match, that hinders me from playing the best I can. This in particular is true due to the fact, that I am hearing a little impaired. It is difficult for me to separate different noises.

Talking about the match is part of the fun, that is fine. But there are a lot of people out there who seem not to want to play, but to chit chat bullshit instead. And there are people, especially a lot of kids, who find it funny to make noises alike whistling or knocking the microphone or whatever.

I think, it had been clarified, what I mean with sensible.

But I do not complain in any way. One can leave the lobby or one can mute the others. The means for every kind of people already are available…

If people like babbling, that’s fine. But do not expect that I listen or even answer…

What I really would like is, when people would just talk to make helpful hints, alike “predator in the trees to the north” or “let us move on” or whatever. But those hints in random matches does not happen at all or at least just every 1000th match…

But you all are right, that is a just a mirror of society. Nothing unexpected.

I agree.

The most polite people in the world can be found in Great Britain. The USA is a big country with a lot of quite different regions. People from Texas might have a total different socialization from those from California. It’s the same as in the EU. You cannot compare the mentality of Italians with Fins…

And to be honest, also people speaking russian are not always belonging to the most polite ones :))

But guys, interesting, from where are you all? I am from Germany - at the moment near Hamburg…

In all honesty, that’s me and the boys 90% of the time over discord. Then again, 90% of the time we face preds that don’t require any kind of focus so, there’s still a pandemic out there. We literally play this game and chit chat because is the closest thing to socializing since most places are only now beginning to open.

To me, playing this game has become like going to the local bar, ordering some beer and talking with friends and strangers. Only difference is we talk over a headset and pour our beers ourselves at home.
