For those lore nerds like myself, I figured a thread with links to videos and articles giving accurate information about the Yautja would be useful (apologies if someone has already done a topic, add a link to that topic in the comments).
It might also help those members of the community who don’t know the movies and lore understand why certain things exist in the game.
While not the best example, this video is a pretty decent introduction for those who ask “What’s a Predator?”.

they skin those they don’t think are worthy to take as trophies but are still a threat. Scarface does this in Concrete Jungle with the servitors, it’s to sow fear and doubt into the enemy’s heart. In fact, I recall Dutch mentioning Hopper’s team were firing in all directions (due to the bullet damage), and they were all killed at that exact spot, indicating that the Pred obviously didn’t have to hunt them very long and it was all easy kills

I used to like Predators when I was a kid. Then I grew up and I understood how retarded the yauntja are as a made up race. They make 0 sense. They are so fucking dumb they would not go out of medieval ages… Just look at the gear they have on hunts and you understand why they make no fucking sense even for the tech we have TODAY! They are just to dumb to exist.
Its like use a human sport hunter equiped with a bow and say all the rest of humanity are stuck in the iron age.
The guys we often see in movies are just normal guys living their life and making a name for themselfs, they don’t use military tech when hunting simple prey. The closest we got from their army and scientific wings are Assassin and Fugitive.

Dude, even back in medieval times we had chain mail that went all over your body. Being as retarded of playing just some metal bits in certain areas is brain dead stupid. They go into warzones, WARZONES! Check out the swats equipment. Don’t give me iron age human with a bow. For some reason they do carry plasma weapons, a bombs to level a city block (or whatever) and other tech but the body armor is where they draw the line? Bullshit! They have a damn cloak.
Predators also have issues with regulating their own temp, that is why they go around attacking in heat waves. We have certain type of equipment to do that today, what don’t they use some advanced body armor that also regulate body temp? Because they make no fucking sense.
Then check the video posted by someone else, they don’t act like hunters, they act like primitive barbarians that are going into a murder spree. They are a bunch of lunatics. This type of society would blow themselves up way before reaching the stars.
I can keep going but I see no point.
Given the opportunity to explore their culture I’d show they don’t really understand their technology. Different groups have access to different machines that are 100% automated.
They’re still hunter gatherers they just have access to a more advanced cultures technology. It’s why they still dress like gladiators, they do it because their ancestors did.
That’s my take on it though, I think 99% of them have no idea how to make the things they use, they just use what they are given/awarded. That last 1% is desperately trying to figure it all out before something breaks they can’t repair of have auto repaired.

No idea who that guy is but I don’t see what that changes? I can still see only part of his body cover in armor and I don’t think that cannon changes anything about yautja culture.
They are traditionalist, hunting the same way for thousands of years ever since their uprising and enslaving of their aggressors using their technology hunting prey stronger then them and technologically more advanced and can even kill engineers!
It shows Predators are macho and have advanced technology they just don’t use them on hunts because if they die or get captured that would make the prey more dangerous, oh and…BOOM now you eat out of your left nostril lol
To be honest I’m not really a fan of the expanded universe stuff. A few novels/comics are ok but the far majority of it makes them ridiculous.
I think it should be redone using the movies (a few books) and the idea that they are stuck culturally. Different Tribes/Clans are pushing out in different ways to change that or to follow some ideal and others are committed to unchanging for fear of reverting to what they were.

It isn’t that I think they aren’t intelligent, I think they’re very much like us. We use things constantly that we don’t really understand. You can be an expert pilot and not know how to fix a plane, same goes for other things.
They have access to hyper advanced technology built by a race of insects who wanted as much time for entertainment as possible, as insects (or the alien equivalent) they did what humans do a split up the work, specializing in tasks and knowledge. When the Pred’s took everything, they were left with machines that could copy and build any space ship it had made before, maxhines that would make them perfectly sized armour, in the style they still use. Even they’re weapons could have been designed for the various games.
The reason they seem different in various movies is that each Tribe developed around one set of essential machines, spread across countless planets.
Pred’s long lives actually work against there culture progressing, when leaders rise to power in different tribes the can hold it for centuries, the culture become stagnant.
Bad bloods likely are made up of smaller groups who have decided steal what they need is preferable, they can have whatever culture they want, they have freedom… at least till they’re caught.
There is one clan that’s mostly technically advanced…the dark blade clan…
The clan was known for their advanced technology, far superior to the weaponry of the other clans. Their armor and weapons all followed the same design, black with red lights decorating them. However, Scarface’s armor was a notable exception, following his own design. Other members of the Dark Blade clan were the rogue Bad Blood warriors Long Spear, Swift Knife, and Stone Heart, who were defeated and brainwashed by Borgia Industries. However, they were all given honorable deaths by their clan brother, Scarface.
The Dark Blade Clan seems to be a highly powerful clan among the Yautja, as they have personal variants of weapons, including their own versions of the Maul, Glaive, Combistick, Wristblades, Smart Disc, Plasmacaster, armor, and bio-helmet. The Dark Blade Clan’s personal variants of these weapons are top of the line, such as extremely large Wristblades, a Smart Disc whose targeting matrix can store up to 4 targets, and a Glaive with monstrous plasma-forged blades for unparalleled cutting power. The Dark Blade Clan is also full of very capable warriors; a single Yautja was able to survive 100 years on a dangerous planet with just a Glaive and his Wristblades to protect himself, and then reverse the fate of the stolen Yautja technology on earth and survive impossible odds- and he wasn’t even the head of the clan.
The Dark Blade Clan is possibly an Eliteclan full of very powerful hunters, who they equip with their own, extremely powerful variants of the usual Yautja weaponry. They also have their own armor and helmet type, though these are shown to be cosmetic and no more effective than the average armor.
