Parry is a must, no doubt.
It gives you a chance to defend predator when hes coming for you, and yes, sometimes you can kill him.
BUT, when you see 2, 3 or even 1 fireteam member chasing the predator with Knifes like a bitch, because this is the right way to play him, then something isnt right. Yes, i do It to. When hes close to me run on him with the knife, what he Will do? Nothing, this is the key, force him to fall back. But, where is the fear?? The point is to see the predator and be afraid, hes the PREDATOR!!! BUT no, the mentality of the game as for the Parry is wrong. something needs to change, i dont know what. Something. And i repeat, i do the same with Parry. Btw i play 50 - 50 predator - fireteam from DAY1⦠And i have to say something It doesnt feel right with Parry and at the same time attack to the predator. Thanks for reading.
Wrong ideology. (Parry)
The mentality should have been an actual tutorial that ātoldā us what to do and what not to do and why.
Right now everyone has their own way of dealing with parry/knife and it doesnāt look sleek. Looks like a bunch of puppets. Granted doesnāt look too bad because when the metal strikes there is a cool backwards animation that happens. Regardless, we go in misinformed and it feels sloppy.
And I agree with the above post, that you canāt chase with the knife. Its mainly a defensive mechanic that only works when the predator thrusts towards you. There is a lot more to it with the way you tap, how fast to tap, ect., but i dont think thats for us to make a freakin how to guide for the public. Ilfonic needs to step up this game.
An official guide would help because the knife can get actually locked out from selection. Iām not sure if it is a bug that occurs or that it is a cool down effect but it happens and there is no telling when it will happen. it just does.
Not to mention that tapping the Melee bind quickly will switch your weapon back to a gun.
And, seriously, 7/10 predators attacking me if i Just stay very close with knife and spam parry-attack button the predator fall back with Green blood all over hes body, this is not right!! I didnt do something that needs skills i Just spaming the R2 button. If L2 hits, thenā¦you knowā¦
To be fair, Dutch did turn the tables on the Predator with primitive weapons in the end of the 87 Film. Thatās what allowed him to survive.
From day one i play only predator. And that parry was really scary from the start. But now the parry/knife masters as i call them are so easy to deal with. And is even more fun if some dude is talking shit to me like. Come here bitch, il parry u to death⦠and seconds after that as he is crawling on the ground he starts to cry that i play like pussy and im trash and bla bla bla⦠who is trash? Me standing or your headless corpse on the ground? parry now is uselessā¦
Nah. FT only tear you up on comms when itās obvious you should duel them one on one, but decide to plasma or bow them at close range. Like, thereās zero honour in it, duel like man pred.
Every time knife master is running on me i switch to wrist blades⦠but i bait him to swing that knife in front of me. and after his swing i strike 2 times and move or normal jump behind him. And repeat until he is down or he starts running to healā¦
Yeah not in a 1 on 1 knife fight lol
Pred fights for honour, no honour fighting someone with a knife from the top of a roof with full camo and a plasma caster. take your mask off and fight like a man pred.
I perfectly agree with your sentiment here.
I love the concept of the game because of immersion, because of the feeling it gives, because it tries to bring you the atmosphere of the 1st movie.
The same problem that you mention happening with the parry, imo happens too often with the āchaseā, i.e. when (esp. good PC) Fireteams chase a wounded Predator aggressively without any fear, and easily manages to spot and kill him thanks to their relative speed (esp recon, scout), to blood and sound cues, and to the fact that they have nothing to lose.
I donāt like that
Donāt forget your glow like a comet and second windā¦what was the point of adding the blinding flash effect when you go into second wind if you can just as easily follow the comment across the sky till you find him behind a tree and kill himā¦
I love the fact that iām, able to larp as Arnold and 1v1 a Predator. But i completely agree with you, if the entire fireteam is chasing the PREDATOR away with knives, the pred needs some sort of escape mechanism, or a multiplied speed factor when X amount of FT players are nearby.
I personally get a crazy adrenaline-rush when parrying and knife šŖ fighting a Predator!
Iāve brought many Predators to second wind, but have also been slaughtered by many Predators as well.
I think itās fairly balanced right now ā and a good Predator will know when to change combat strategy if FT is prepared and good with knife fights.
Iāve been saying this since the 1st day they implemented the stupid parry lol
Second wind needs to be made available while being able to climb trees as well and not just run, specifically because of this reason āthe chaseā.
Beginning second wind already completely immobilizes you so itās easy for them to chase you down and slaughter you. You should be able to climb trees even when trying to use second wind. Put him in the trees with a cloak or no cloak. Either way being up high is an advantage to āthe chaseā since ft canāt climb trees
Yes but he also couldnāt have parried the preds wrist blade with a knife he was to weak compared to the preds
When i get parried Iām usually using combi stick they go to parry again I just throw it through their face
I disagree, allowing tree access will make Predators easier targets to see as they glow bright bloody green and white.
I evade FT 95% of the time when I reach second wind, the key is to Run and Leap.
Donāt move in a straight line, do your best to break the FTās line of sight ā this also breaks up the blood trail theyāll be following.
If youāre running Zerker and donāt have Arenal Boost equipped⦠youāre fucked.
I agree. When I started out I was sort of scared of the predator. Eventually began dipping my toes with close combat engagement and now I am fearless.
I think is just part of how you evolve as a player. You need to get better as a Pred because not every FT member is going to be afraid of you.
I dont want some official guide telling me how to fight a pred by some dumbass rules, without parry getting stuck with a shit FT of turtles or AFK or both at the same time or the edge of the map mudd up and stay in the same spot for 15 minutes. Would I agree that the motion and naming of it is all wrong, sure a parry doesnt lock up it deflects a thrust to the side, exposing your opponents back. Unfortunately parry is crucial most of the time and still doesnt guarentee survival in most cases
