To be realistic, Disney is probably the largest enterprise out there with more capital invested in products and resorts, etc than any entertainment company in the world.
Their line of resorts and attractions have been in the past mostly fantasy and cartoons…teen bops… roller coaster rides as probably their largest investments. Their stuff in books and music and candy and toys are merely small stuff companies like hasbros had been famous for.
They are NOT however doing expensive toys like luxury large scale models or even being the primary funders of films with mature themes however they might have a hand at distribution or management. How Disney is involved with Alien or Predator is highly speculative.

Their branding on these franchise we love should be investigated because no doubt, its like putting something on this franchise that isn’t needed. What that is or how much of it it is, is not known.

My guess, it might only be legal (their contracts are labour intensive considering its global reach) and their global workforce comes in handy for productions like Alien.

Well i got my opinions on disney and why they are pullin a monopoly in entertainment, but i dont feel like gettin into it tbh. I do hate disney now tho lol and yea hates a strong word but it is what it is

thats good, i appreciate it

The general response from the public is that the series is pretty good. Most of my friends who like the franchise are super excited about it and so far have enjoyed it.

Then I come here, where the “hardcore” fans are and is always the same fucking attitude/opinions. Nothing is ever good enough for you. You remind me of the old dudes in the metal scene who still think only Iron Maiden and Judas Priest are the good metal bands (because Black Sabbath doesn’t exist anymore and Ozzy and Dio died)

Sincerely, fuck you all. Your opinion of how good/bad any TV/Movie from the Predator/Alien francise is, is worth less than the opinion of homeless addict about an open heart surgery.

here you mean avpgalazy. only people there do that.

I have a buddy and he’s a super star wars fan. He’s read all the books and comics and owns all the games. When TFA came out, he was thrilled. When TLJ came out, he was amazed. When RoS came out, he was overjoyed. Now that time has passed and he looks back and rewatches to movies, his opinion has soured. He now sees the problems, he now barely rates them as star wars movies. But he hasn’t learned. Every new tv show that comes out is the greatest thing, and then time passes and only Andor has remained unscathed by a critical eye.

I was like him. I gushed about Resurrection. I rewatched AVP and requiem fondly. I defended prometheus and covenant. I left the theater after predators all hyped. However, I saw The Predator. I’ve come to understand that things connected to good things aren’t good themselves. When it comes to Alien movies, everything after AVP have been utter trash in very different, but equally sludge ways. I’ll reserve judgement for this show until its conclusion, but my money is on that a month after the show is finished and everyone praised it, it will be understood by everyone across the board that it really wasn’t good and it will be forgotten. Just like nearly every disney product in the last decade.

Can definitely see that and am not surprised.

Lol

Its really hard to expand on the novelty of movies like predator and alien where the biggest draw was not knowing what the creature was. Both went from solo to multiple in sequels. I do appreciate the effort even if I don’t like the final product.

Novelty isn’t why those movies spawned franchises. If it was all novelty, no one would go back to see them. Alien, Aliens, and Predator are great because the writing was tight, the dialogue was smoother and the actors could deliver those lines, and use their face and body language to act and express their character’s inner turmoil. The directing gave them proper cues and built a sense of tension.

When I complain about a movie, its almost never about things like the sets or cgi or other surface dressings. If I bring it up, its usually an indicator of how little care went into the movie. I mostly focus on writing and acting.

James Cameron should have made this show.

True, but there are still plenty of movies that have a good cast and end up so-so. Writing it tied to the concept/direction of the movie. It won’t save the movie by itself. Just look at many independent movies where everything is great, but you only watch it that one time cause everyone says it’s great.

In these movies, it’s a good combination of everything as you said, but still the monster novelty and direction (sequels) matter a lot.

Look at Prometheus. Good actors, decent writing, yet still many fans of OG movies didn’t like it.

Having actors that can act and having actors act are two entirely separate things. Writing can easily save or damn a movie by itself. Andor is a great show and Obiwan is a terrible show. The concepts and dressings should suggest the opposite, but the writing is why they are great and terrible respectively. Independent films that are good become mainstream. If you only watch it once because everyone said it was great, was it great? (I don’t want to get into the objective vs subjective argument here, but I do need to note that just because something is good doesn’t mean you’ll enjoy it and visa versa.)

Prometheus might have had good actors, but the acting was only descent, and the writing was poor. Its hard to believe that the same person who made Alien made Prometheus and Covenant.

Writing is the most important thing in a movie or show.
