For starters, that mode should make pred completely silent and completely invisible at all times. Get rid of FTs ability to spot. All they can do is use directional clues and environment. Maybe FT should also load not fully stocked with weapons, but have gadgets to deter pred until they can retrieve weapons.
Ok. I would like a real hunter game. One that should rely on strategy, not on close combat or shooting.
But for that, you would need to buff the Predator stealth and nerf his damage dealing capabilities (cause if not, Predator would use the close combat instead of hunting). And you need a complete change on the mission objetives on order to make the FT vulnerable. Just some examples…
Interesting suggestion, however - you still have 4 guys fully aware that at any second they will be attacked. Not even hunted, just brute attack. They have a mission to push in order to win, few minutes to accomplish it, so it will turn in to a FPS shit show the second this attack will start.
You see? What I’m trying to say in this thread is no matter what changes you can think off in balancing – however good or radical they might be – in the end you will never ever get rid of that fast pace FPC shooter experience. Its literally the bedrock of this game. Was from day one
I feel that I’m hunting as predator and being hunted as fireteam against good predator players. Obviously, it’s not to the level you’re looking for, but they added perfect invisibility while moving beyond 50m, they made predator movements quieter, they increased the time between clicks while cloaked, and gave scout disciplined, so it is not as bad as it once was
Again – very good suggestions, only missing the target - you will still end up in a pure FPS fast pace combat that will rip you and others from any hunting experience. This game is simply not able to give us that experience. It was not design in such a way. There is literally NOTHING we can suggest, and devs do, to change that.
Hunting something means stalking with powerful advantage - we do not have that in this game. What we do as preds, we attack FT, like we are in combat. Its not hunting.
You are right about those 100% - those are nice cosmetics and balance changes in an FPS fast pace shooter. They absolutely do not make it a hunting game. I’ve posted that before here – have a look at this:
Top tire Pred vs PC Death squad.
Most games look like this. This is a total shit show in which no one is hunting nobody (no disrespect to anybody involved in that game – you guys are awesome XD) – people are just pressing their keys at the speed of light to gain more dps on opponents. This is what this game is in reality.
I don’t mind that really, I’m a die hard pred fan and will always love this game. Its just when I see ppl saying “Balance this or that, in order for predator to feel like predator!” I think to myself – no… balance changes will give you nothing. This game is not meant to be what you want it to be… we need to wait for another game.
Not even that, if you will increase them to 20, 30 mins or even 1h - you will end up wit a very long FPS shooter match. We’ve done all that in private games. It will not work, no matter what will be changed.
P:HG was, is and remains a fast pace arcade shooter, lacking real hunting experience. I’m happy with that, have other games for that ;-)
Well, based on these two statements, I think we may have some deeper fundamental disagreements. So I’ll avoid a pedantic argument and try to make a simple analogy.
In my opinion, in PHG, the predator is like a lion and the fireteam are like a herd of buffalo. Each can kill the other, but the buffalo can only survive as a group. The predator is still the hunter and the fireteam is still the prey. The fireteam’s advantage is in numbers. The predator’s advantage is in mobility and burst damage.
Just finished watching. I assume that you’re proving this point.
I think this is basically the way the game should be. Obviously, it would be nice if the maps were a little bigger and the missions took a little longer, but any videogame has to keep people engaged. Even the most popular military games are unrealistically fast paced, because that’s what makes them fun and engaging. If You don’t want to call it “hunting,” that’s up to you, but I think most people would agree that what the predator does in PHG is hunting.
As long as we touched on the movie, i have a few questions. In all cases pred attacks when the team is isolated, but what was pred trying to do when he approached dutch when the trap was set?
Also, any detail of how pred took down Hopper’s team? The helicopter must have been shot down with the PC. But it somehow crash-landed on the tree with survivors. Billy days that shots were fined in all directions, and that’s all i know. Didn’t seem like they was a hunt; more like a full on assault.
