Circle (2015). They wake up after being abducted and have to vote people off to die. If they move from the spot they’re standing they’re killed too.

yes specifically for not shying away from killing kids the universal hollywood no-no. I had to give Funny Games and Hereditary a seal too for having no justice either and making me feel bad.
Def worth a watch. Its the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy with a power rangers villain.

Watch the Funny Games remake since it’s shot for shot by the same director. There’s some surreal Drake and Josh dynamic there and 4th wall breaking which sets it apart from other horror movies.
The guy who did Psycho Goreman also directed The Void which has some cool practical effects work at the end. I like his movies.
I didn’t like The Witch, wasn’t scary to me. I thought Goodnight Mommy did a better job being jarring and strange. Haven’t seen The Lighthouse.
Midsommar is a actually just a surreal relationship drama, most kills are offscreen. Visuals are interesting, but it doesn’t stick with you like Hereditary does. Worth a watch, probably the absolute worst date night movie that could ever be picked and caused many breakups.

Witch wasn’t too spooky for me either but it was fucked up for grinding up a baby and just having a bleak ending

Funny Games is underrated
My mind must have blocked this out. I remember the scene where she’s playing peek-a-boo and the goat being satan and that’s it.
That’s how the witch becomes young again
She steals their baby, grinds it up with a mortar/piston and rubs it all over her
Lighthouse isn’t scary either
It’s funny
And shot well
