Really? So, Illfonic, just give us PS4s the option “crossplay with controller only”…
I am not getting tired to mention, how great the DOOM 2016 programmers implemented the controlling. It was quite fun to play that first person shooter with controller, although I came from PC recently (and was not used to controllers - to be honest, I hated them…). If everybody has the same conditions, a handicap is no handicap, right?

The other way around. PHG should support keyboard + mouse in the PS4 version!
You can connect them to the PS4 but many games don’t support them (natively at least):

And you can use a hardware adapter for the PS4. Many work quite well. You connect mouse and keyboard to this adapter. The PS4 detects them as a controller. There seem to be exploits using such hardware in several multiplayer games like Warzone.
There is no excuse for these input issues. It is the same craziness that many PC players want to play platformers with a keyboard.
There should be a big warning after starting a game: Best played with keyboard and mouse or Best played with controller. - Many games do this.
Choose your tool / human machine interface wisely!

Look, my console is below my TV in front of my couch - maybe a typical setup for PS4 players.
I do understand, that controller and also a TV is a inferior technical solution. But, throwing a javelin is also an inferior technical solution compared to shooting something… Sports are defined by rules not by “technical superiority” of the used items…
I would not love to have to implement a desk in front of my couch - with a keyboard and a mouse.
I guess, that is the reason, why controllers are so popular with consoles, right? :))

This is entertainment and not sports. Don’t act like a dictator. Free choice is the way to go.
Not forcing people to use inferior control methods or ressort to closed platforms.
If you prefer sitting at your couch it is your own decision just like another prefers sitting at a desk.
But not supporting multiple input schemes is the responsibility of the developers.
By the way, VR would be great for PHG (though at least PSVR could not run it) and superior to the keyboard + mouse control scheme.

Agreed. In a battle, two terms matter - tactics and strategy. As far as I know, the first concerns “short term” and the latter “long term” matters. The latter does not happen in PHG yet. You just see one and the same strategy - which simply is “stay together fireteam, and fire all you have”. I would love to play with different strategies too…
But yes, every splitting is a splitting of the player base. But I cannot believe, that the player base is so small, that you won’t get people playing with you then? Is it?

Playerbase is extremely small for several reasons:

PC playerbase is small since PHG is offered only at Epic. With Steam it would be a totally different story.

This game is not casual at all. It is a rough mess. Production quality is low especially for PS4 standards. Have you played any other game as rough as PHG?
Did you experience the nasty profile bugs of version 2.02 and that was a marketing version for PS4 players!

Personally I absolutely have no problem with playing public matches with randoms. Some games are nice, some are not, but in the average that is fine.
But here something is important, what arrow said: the tutorial is poor. Beginners even do not know about the mudding up thing after that.
If I had not a friend, who played PHG before me and “took me at my hand” in the very first games, I might have skipped playing PHG the very first day. Frustration level was high then…

As said: PHG is not casual.
At PC, there are lots of hardcore games but for PS4 it is unacceptable.
Did you know that instructions are hidden under extras? Strange design decision for 2020.
I suggested in another thread that those so called deathsquad players do exactly that. Instead of bullying other players teach randoms how to play.

As I said, after trying playing predator 3 days, I gave up - it was too annoying. The stones, the wall bumping, the problems to switch weapons fast, all these little bugs letting the predator do things, which the one controlling him, does not want resp. did not initiate…
I was totally unnerved and decided to focus on playing FT, where the situation might not be perfect too - but at least seems to be quite a lot better:)

It seems like there are two different design teams - one for fireteam and one for predator.
Is this the same game at all? Just take a look at the control options. They are different. Just strange.

This is a fundamental debate which I do not want to do - it is more about words, if you ask me.
Yeeees. Let the PS4 players choose, whether they want to play against superior technical means or not. PC players naturally should be free to play as they want - they then might just not benefit from a big player base alike those, who are willing to fight with the same weapons… Right?

This obviously is a misunderstanding, I never proposed to take your keyboard and mouse away. I just proposed to ADD an ADDITIONAL choice “crossplay with controllers only” - to allow the PS4 community, which already switched off crossplay, to switch it on again using said option.

Playstation developers should be forced to support multiple control schemes. “Typing” alone with the controller is such a bad design.
In addition 30 fps and lower FOV and so on, are discussed in another recent thread.
VR is realistic in first person shooters. It is a great experience and superior to any other. I enjoy it alot and would play PHG with VR if offered.
In contrast to most of you, I have played both versions. It is more than obvious that the PS4 version is a bad choice in case of PHG. It depends on the game. There are other games which are superior at PS4 mainly due to two reasons: cheating and bugs. The Dark Souls series’ or GTA5’s multiplayer should be played at PC - you will get banned due to random cheaters. Other games are buggy and you can tell only after release.

Oh yes, I experienced nearly all bugs very intensily…:) I just got my PS4 in December 2019 - and I just played a handful of other games before PHG - all single player. So I do not have much to compare with.
But yes, I just stayed with PHG as it enables me to play with a friend who is far away from my living location. Otherwise, I likely would not have stayed in this game long enough.
Now, I enjoy it quite a lot - due to its depth. The bugs I still do not enjoy, but they are now on a level, that the game is playable at least. 2.02 was without question just an impertinence…

Yes, typing with the controller is not nice, that’s true. Nevertheless, I would not want to install a keyboard in my living room. Naturally others might want to. So, choice of freedom is always welcome.
But you won’t let a horse race against a formula one car, right? You have to group the horses and also group the cars together for - playing.
The 30FPS and FOV definitely is annoying, right.
When talking about VR, I just mean, it is not realistic, that this will come for this PHG version. I do know what is possible today quite well. I even witnessed one of the first successful beaming (teleportation) experiments…;)

Lol I’m good bro. I joke a lot…Naw I was on vacation for like 8 days… I decided id drink and spark up on game day. Bad idea. Couldn’t navigate the disc at all I think I lost it first 30 sec of interaction with you guys. I’m down for that rematch I’ve been doing thumb curls ever since.

The Predator is full of game breaking bugs, like wrist blade instead of shooting the arrow or pigs that dont spawn close to him.
