So by your logic, if there’s an evil corporation then the movie is defying gender norms? Wow had no clue James Bond was such a progressive franchise
MORE WOKENESS!
No I’m sorry, that you are viewing the movie through some warped lense lol
And that shows exactly how limited your knowledge of cinema is. Predators is a wholeheartedly different experience than predator. The same way that alien and aliens are so tonally different
I’d like to say yes. That terminator 2, and aliens, are both awesome examples of how to do a female lead in an action role right! Yes. We agree there. But there’s no norms being broken here. No one felt they didint belong. The same way men do bad in action films and you need Arnold to show them how it’s done, sometimes women don’t pull off the role and Linda could show them how it’s done lol
Predators was great wish that got a sequel over cough* cough* the predator
So, you don’t wanna look at the context at all? And don’t want to acknowledge that this is literally a movie about fighting gender norms in-universe and movie gender norms irl?
Okay, bud. Like no, really, I got you. I don’t think I can say anything to prove my point or something.
Okay, sure, if you say so.
I think you are missing the point. I firmly agree with you. But they don’t nearly throw the message in our faces. That’s just it. They make it such a priority that it becomes a shitty film. And… let’s face, they have a hard time with quality after the original films. Sometimes they get lucky with the sequel.
What the fuck am I reading? I’ve got Llama bringing facts, evidence, and common sense and logic to the table while those who shant be named squirming about “real messages in movies”
Because there is a historical problem in the American cinema with white washing. That’s why casting poc as a white dude is okay (since the overwhelming majority of Hollywood actors are white and don’t have a problem with representation) and vice versa is not.
Resorting to the old Ok bud. Lol you’re point, that these characters are defying some norm that YOU have put in place for them. Is sexist. At no point in terminator 2 is sarah underestimated. They literally treat her like Hannibal lector while she’s in the hospital because of how dangerous she is. The whole film respects her and at no point do we feel she’s overcome some norm. You are making this up, to hold some kind of weird moral high ground here.
I enjoy using logic. Lol
Fuckin’ preach, bro
Please, tell my why Aliens isn’t a movie about a female protagonist fighting gender norms and capitalism in a form of a vile megacotporation?
I can see where this is an issue yes
Somebody shat in his Cheerios lol
Because it’s not lmfao. It’s about a character that just so happens to have survived an encounter with the galaxy’s deadliest organism and uses her knowledge and experiences with these creatures to aid their destruction at the hands of the Colonial Marines. Nowhere has anyone(but you) ever exercised a “gender biased/norm breaking” agenda with these movies and Sigourney Weaver will tell you the same goddamn thing
White washing roles has definitely been done a lot. I even have a friend who could not get a role as Serena Williams because they told her she “wasn’t black enough”. Not that her scenario totally relates to white washing at all. Just that I’ve seen it a lot where casting can be, well. Racist
Right who’s thinking wow Ripley overcame capitalism after watching alien for the first time 🤣🥴
What gender norm is Ripley fighting, actively trying to survive aliens trying to eat her. What, were us terrible white men, expecting her to do? Were we like WOAH. No way! She’s trying to survive! How dare that woman! Uh no. We were like damn right ripley you’re a badass. I don’t think you understand, that by you implying there was a norm she was breaking, implies you think women don’t belong in these rolls because it’s not normal
