I think for gaming at the moment 6 cores 12 threads is enough. Upgrading to the i9 9900k gave me literally zero gaming performance gains over the i7 8700k.

The colors look flat on PS5, idk just not the same. Not to mention the upscale and lower fps. Cyberpunk without dlss looks amazing and the raytracing is phenomenal. That game might jave quite a few bugs but the graphics are the best.

generally speaking resolution, textures and lighting is better on PC, but it also depends on the game.

One common myth is to assume consoles render games at the full output resolution, when in reality most render games at FHD and upscale it to whatever output resolution the system is connected to.

This essentially is what Nvidia achieved with DLSS and a lot of modern games have their own version of it, allowing you to lower the rendering resolution without changing the output resolution.

Steam surveys and publicly available metrics already told us how many actually own high-end PCs and it’s proportionally not a lot. Plenty of 5 yr old rigs. Min specs for games are lower than any console tbh.

Consoles generally succeed as a standardized platform compared to PC. IE you don’t have to go lower the foliage rendering distance in Rust or DayZ or something on the off chance someone else did it for the advantage which is nice.

5 year PC’s are still better than 5-8 year old consoles like the PS4 and Pro. PS5 are also proportionally not a lot either
