The guy shooting the bow is a professionist. What they are testing are longbows. The guy shooting the bow explains why he is not using more then 160 pounds. Shooting from close range, they replace the arrow heads that would be used back then with modern, more powerful ones(if I remember right, its been some time) and they still do nothing to the plate, not even put dents that are worrying. One thing is for sure, nothing goes trough the breastplate.
With arrows the distance they travel adds to the impact as they build velocity which is the real killer

They shot from different distances and arrows don’t build velocity as they travel, they lose it. Same with any projectile that does not have something to propel it, like a rocket. Friction slows things down.
