While I agree this community is toxic af, poltics need to stay out of games most people use games as an escape I myself use it as escape majority of the time that and music. anything outside this game should stay out of the fourms I know theres off topic but I wish they would ban anything related to poltics or real world issues but thats my opinion. While I agree with the heart of your comment, I have to disagree in a small way. The way American politics is operating currently everything is a political position to one side, anything they don’t agree with they virtue signal what side of the false dichotomy they’re on and make attacks based from that position. Hey, I just replied to you on the other thread. Im gonna quote my reply, then add some more onto it, figure if we are gonna get into it, might as well go into detail.
Now I really do mean this. But there is a flip side as well. It takes two to make war, and make no mistake, this has become a political war of sorts. So I want to discuss it a bit. I hope you dont find offense in what I say. I am not trying to attack you by any means, I really do mean it when I said I respect you.
First off I just wanna say, this is hilariously on point in most cases. Unfortunate but true.
Now onto the serious stuff.
You are correct. This is your life, And people should respect that. However it has become political, because in the trans communities thirst for acceptance, many of its members, make every argument about them being trans. This really doesnt help you guys in terms of support from the rest of society. This is your lives, and people should respect that, whether or not they agree with it. However, when you make your life, the focal point of every argument, Peoples beliefs one way or another are going to come out in their response. Hence how it has become a very hot yet sensitive topic for debate politically.
Add onto that, that most of the time these arguments become extremely toxic fast. People dont just take them as topics of debate, they take them as personal attacks both ways. Hence why it is a war. Its devolved to a point of people on each side just trying to hurt the other. and it makes both sides look bad, depending where you sit. I understand the frustration in the face of all of the shit you must face on the daily for just being you. But in my opinion, the highly immature ways that these frustrations are typically released, really does hurt you in the long run. It makes supporting trans people harder, because you guys tend to look really aggressive, and on top of that, because you make being trans a part of every argument you make, you are quite literally opening the floodgates for all of the negative energy from those who dont agree.
Look I mean you do you, its your life, freedom of speech. I just hope that in saying this I can help you realise how you look from the outside looking in. And how it could be a detriment to not only yourself, but the rest of the trans community.
As for TLOU2, I really dont know much about the game, only the controversity surrounding it, but I said my peace on it on that reply I quoted at the beginning so I will just leave that as is.

okay I lied, this is gonna be a big one. A lot of people think trans has to do with surgery, and while to some extent thats a symptom of it (For lack of a better term), its not the main thing. I dated a trans person for a year, F-M. My best friend also came out as trans a while back. So I have a little more of an understanding than most. as much as you can have without being a part of it I suppose. But in reality its as much mental as it is physical. Im not too big brain on it so I wont say more than that. But people need to understand that the surgery side is more of an optional thing. Its not about that stuff for all trans people, though for most it is something they consider (at least partially).
Please do correct me if Im wrong. I only have two examples, so my pool of knowledge is very limited.

Most of us just want a choice in life that amounts to more than street walking sex worker, or porn star. And I’d like to be able to maybe fucking speculate about trans aliens being better and more accepted than here irl. Also I’d like to stop fearing for my trans friends lives. I’d like to stop wondering “am I ever gonna see that person again? Are they gonna be okay?” if they’re black and trans. Ppl I served with who stuck with me through thick and thin in Afghanistan blocked me. I lost family. I lost friends. I found my own community, and my own way. I tried to post about it here and there and I’ve gotten used to this sort of shit. So yeah, it’s surprising when I get scant humanity but it doesn’t mean I’m going to kiss anyone’s asses over it either. When the world stops stereotyping my people maybe I’ll be less hostile out the gate lmao
I can understand that. Like I said, we are right at the beginning of an uphill battle and you are quite literally one of the soldiers. But as I said, lead by example. This is a fire, that cant be fought with fire. People need to be able to see humanity in you, to return it. I had the priveledge of not only dating a trans person, but also being best friends with one. It showed me that you guys are just as human as the rest of us. you deserve better. But not everyone gets that priveledge to see. So show them. Be the better person. Thats how this war is won. Obviously its gonna be hard, and you are right, There will always be people that hate you. I mean shit my girlfriend (black) still gets discriminated against all the time online. Its sad to see how Unempathetic a lot of people still are. But you still need people on your side to get to a point where you can feel any sense of security.
